Question about Natural Science Industries Smithsonian 525 Telescope

Missing Altitude Control Locking Knob

My neighbor’s son asked me for help with his Smithsonian 525x Telescope. I went through all the parts and instructions and he is missing the Altitude Control Lock (this appears to be the same as the Azimuth Lock and the Leg Locking Screws). Where can I obtain a locking knob?

Sorry everyone. I thought I was sending a note to tech support and instead made a new thread. Hopefully this thread can be deleted.

Go to any well stocked hardware store and buy a similar bolt-- get stainless steel so it won't rust.

Hello. My daughter received the 120mm Astro-Nova 525x telescope as a gift. There was an instruction paper for putting it together which I did. It also had the star chart and the "Getting the Most...

I would be surprised if ToysRus told you to contact FixYa. This is an advice site largely manned by volunteers, with no connection to ToysRus or Edu-Science. I would suggest that you contact Edu-Science to get the missing CD, or insist that ToysRus refund for the defective (missing parts) item they have sold you.

Don't worry about Jupiter. It is not going to disappear. I have been watching it for decades and it is almost always up there.

My son gave me a Galileo CC-JRS telescope, but he says there are some parts missing and I would like to see if i can replace the parts

Sorry no parts for this telescope which is being sold by Toys R Us.

This is one of the worst telescopes you could have purchased. Plastic eyepieces and a plastic focuser! We receive many complaints about not being able to focus, and breaking very quickly. Sorry.

Try again--- next time get one of these which is the best value in amateur astronomy.

The finderscope for the Bushnel 78-9930 telescope will not align w/ the telescope. The Azimuth adjustment knob bottoms out before the alignment is achieved. Everything is molded one piece. Besides the...

Obviously the mounting for the finderscope is NOT parallel with the tube-- probably the screw holes were not drilled correctly.

This is one of the reasons why we never recommend Tasco or Bushnell telescopes. They are considered "toy" telescopes and most of them are not suitable for Astronomy.

Return it and buy one of these:

OR re-drill the holes so the finder scope is more parallel with the main tube.

Need a service manual for smith corona 250 dle h series model 5a

You will not find a manual for that telescope. Even if you did it will not explain how to use the telescope. It only shows the parts and assembly.

Locate a local Astronomy club and they can help you with the telescope.

This is probably a small refractor style telescope, being sold by toy stores. It has plastic eyepieces and a plastic focuser and is not suitable for Astronomy.

They do not sell parts for these low cost telescopes. However you might find what you need inn the bolt and nut section of a well stocked hardware store.

This brand is sold by Toys R Us--

I have a smithsonian microscope and telescope super set and no instructions..don't know how to work it for my son

Meade telescopes maintain a web site with all of their manuals. Look under REFRACTOR or REFLECTOR for one that is similar to your telescope. They all go together in a similar fashion.
