SOURCE: hard starting smokes white like gas is getting into cylinders

White smoke in a small engine is oil. Oil in the cylinder will create too much pressure for the engine to achieve compression. Make sure the engine is not getting fuel into the oil and thinning the mixture (literally smell the oil... gasoline and oil smell nothing alike, if it smells like gas, it is). If this is the case, the carb is leaking fuel into the engine, thinning the oil and causing the oil to leak past the rings into the cylinder head, through the valves and, from there, into the exhaust to burn off. Black smoke indicates a direct fuel issue in a small engine, white is oil based.

Why does my snowthrower engine bog down when throwing snow

It should slow down some as it is under a load. As long as it throws the snow far enough no problem. If not the speed governor may need adjusting. Make sure you have fresh fuel.

I have a 2002 extened cab the engine light just came on and all of a sudden when i am driving the RPM's will rev up a bit and then come back down it is doing it more now but when the truck is really...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Since your check engine light is on, you need to take it to an aluto part store and have your computer scanned. The check engine light comes on because the computer has detected as problem with the truck. It should tell you exactly what part is bad. Autozone and Advanced do it for free. It doesn't take but a minute to do. It may be your MAP sensor or IDLE sensor. The test will tell you. If the light came on when the truck began to act up, it should be stored. Get the test done and you won't have to guess anything. Take care.

When i come to a stop, my car doesn't want to accelerate. I give it gas and it barely starts moving, almost like the transmission is slipping. It has an automatic transmission, if I ride the gas pedal...

evap codes won`t cause the acceleration problem.the miss fire codes could cause this if the miss fire is bad enough repair the miss fire problem first.i assume that you have checked the trany fluid for level and condition.if this happens all the time from a stop then you could have a transmission problem with 1st gear activating from a stop.if the rpm`s rise and your not moving with the rpm increase then its a transmission problem.the evap codes will have to be cleared then the car driven to see what shows up again as some false codes can set other codes.

Just had both o2 sensors replaced and now the truck won't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Evidently it had been slipping a bit before but now it won't shift into 3rd at all. The tranny is an E4OD......

O2 Sensors --- not related to shifting

New transmissions --- are only new once
When installed on the assy line

Has to be rebuilt if necessary

PO 147 ---O2 Sensor Heater (Bank 1 Sensor 3) don't have one of those
PO714 -- Trans Temp Sensor -heat for the slipping
PO 471 --- Exhaust Pressure Sensor -don't have that either

Need a new guy
Not very professional were they

WHAT IS THE OIL AND GAS MIXTURE RATIO FOR THE POULAN PRO WEED EATER. I HAVE A NEW MACHINE AND IT WILL NOT START AFTER ONLY ONE DAYS USE. WHEN IT DID START IT KEPT CUTTING OFF EVERY TIME YOU PRESS THE...

Gas / oil should be in ratio 50 / 1 and use two stroke oil for strimmers or chainsaws.

Firstly check the high-tension lead to the spark plug isn't loose. Remove the spark plug and place the body of the plug against the engine so that it is grounded. Check there is a spark when the engine is cranked. If no spark, there may be a short circuit or crack in the white insulation part of the plug so temporarily try another plug to see if you get a spark. Don't actually use this in the engine unless it's the same time type as it may result in engine damage if it's too long. If this still doesn't work, there may be a problem with the cut off switch, which cuts the engine when the safety handle is released, if this is the case it may be necessary to strip the cowl off the top of the engine to trace the wire and switch.
The fuel lines may have become airlocked. This can happen if the tank is run dry. If the weedeater has a primer bulb, alternatively press it several times and then try to pull start the engine with choke on. Repeat this several times. The primer bulb should feel spongy and fill with fuel.
If you're up to it, you can dismantle the carburettor and clean any dirt from valves. The carburettors on chainsaws, hedge cutters, strimmers etc are very fiddly with delicate diaphragms, valves and springs so you have to be careful to avoid damage or loosing parts.
Ensure air filter is clean. Foam elements can be washed with hot water and detergent and squeezed dry in a cloth. Paper elements can be cleaned with compressed air blown from the inside of the filter but ideally should be replaced.
Check fuel lines aren't kinked or blocked restricting fuel flow.
Ensure fuel filter isn't dirty. This is probably located at the end of the fuel line in the tank.
Check the throttle cable is actuating the throttle plate in the carburettor.
Check whether there is a vent on the tank or on fuel cap. There is usually a valve on this to allow air into tank to replace fuel as it leaves for the carburettor. Ensure this isn't blocked.
