I have an Acer Aspire 5000 and want to watch my saved movie on TV.
My Laptop and my Philips TV do have USB ports, but if I connect them nothing happens. I cannot activate any picture or sound on my TV (no FN key is working, hardware manager doesn't find the "external monitor", TV doesn*t find the laptop neither in AV or Side or HDMI mode) - what needs to be done or purchased??
Hi i have only connected my laptop to the tv a few times. i did it through a scart lead connecting to the s-video-out socket on my laptop. then i when to display propertise , settings then selected screen 2, then extened to desktop monitor. it worked. i then opened a film in my player, dragged it accross, went full screen job done. hope this helps...

The LCD TV does not have the software installed on it to integrate with the Pen drive. That is why. Pen drives are meant for input and output of data via computers with USB ports. The pieces of software required to make a computer recognize and interact with a Pen drive (or indeed any other external flash, solid state or hard disk drive based external storage devices) are USB and Storage Device Drivers built-into a computer's Operating System. Your TV does not have such drivers installed on it because it does not have an internal Storage Device to interact with external storage devices. Your notebook can connect to the LCD TVs VGA Port by connecting a VGA Cable from the Port to the Notebooks own VGA Port -> press and hold the Fn key bottom left of the keyboard -> press the Function key at the top of the keyboard bearing the image of two monitors -> release both keys -> use the TV's remote to select Menu -> Input/Source -> PC.
hi i believe u have posted this question on the wrong section but i can help:-) well you can connect ur computer to the tv providing you have a vga port on your tv most lcd type tvs have this it is the little blue port on the side of your laptop there should also be one on your tv...what to do is buy a vga male to male cable and connect them both go to the menu in ur tv and select either pc or vga if you cant find it post me the make and model of your tv.....then when you have done that i believe it is the blue 'fn' button on your laptop and the f5 button which has a picture of two screens in blue you hold in fn and the f5 button and it will switch between.....there is also a more advanced way of doing it but you would need to post the exact model number from the bottom of the laptop in the more advanced way it will be able to have display on the tv and laptop at the same time for example instead of just one or the other.......thanks arron please contact me if you have anymore trouble
Use a 15-pin, male-to-male VGA cable to connect your laptop to your TV. male-to-male means the pins are sticking out on both ends. Since both ends are male, you'll need to find the female VGA input on your laptop and on your TV. This is often called the PC input. Now, connect one end into the TV and one end into the PC. On a Mac, the VGA input is conveniently labeled with a "display" icon. It's recommended that you do this with everything powered off.
you need a VGA connector and your tv would have to have a VGA input most newer ones do your laptop may have A SVIDEO connection which you can buy an svideo to RCA video and connect that way which is how i connect my laptop to my tv its an acer 5520 5912 then i use audio an audio out from head phone jack into rca audio ports for the sound .... but i dont recomend doing it for things such as websurfing because its almost impossible to read the text on the screen its only good for watching movies or webcams or something like that videos play really good alot better than your laptops LCD screen but text like i said is really blurry hard to read it
You cannot charge fhe laptop via the USB port, you can charge a USB device from the USB port but not the other wat around.
You can get the power connect on the laptop repaired and then it will power the laptop and charge the battery.
