    The motherboard bios...Thanks

  • joao_paraivo Nov 23, 2008

I think the problem is in the speed drive. I motheboard just receive SATA 1.5 Gb and the disk its 3 Gb. In the samsung site, they speak in a patch to switch the speed. I try make the patch but its not working.

If you bought this board brand new, take it back and tell them the sata controllers in the bois are not sufficent and get one that is. If you got it second hand then you will need to update or flash the bios to the latest version. see if that works and the drive is recognised. if it is recognised via flash/update you may still run into problems if you try to install XP
good luck and regards

shouldn't make any difference, the board is supposed to support sata 2 and doesn't, try to clear the cmos with the drive plugged in, that should set it back to defaults, also have a look in the bios settings, in some boards you have to enable the sata controllers yourself, if this does not work then its a bios flash or you will have to get a ATA/IDE drive instead if the board supports it

    good luck

Bios not detecting 320gb sata drive

Double check the jumper configuration, You might also want to check the cables and ports incase that's the problem because a properly jumpered SATA drive shouldn't have any compatibility issues. Also check if *********** board supports the SATA ? Let me know if this works..thanks. Mike

Hi,

Some motherboards support both IDE and SATA so it is not unlikely for your MOBO to have both. There should be some mention of SATA in the motherboard BIOS screens so have a look see. Otherwise just plug in a SATA device to it and see if it works!!

Cheers,
Ripface.

P4VM800 SATA HDD Problem Plz Help me!!!

Your P4VM800 won't detect a SATA II (3 GB/s) drive, only a SATA I (1.5 GB/s). You basically have 2 options:
1. if you have a friend or colleague with a machine that supports SATA II, install the disk in that machine and us the manufacturer's utility to set the SATA to 1.5 GB/s (Seagate/Maxtor disks, but only these do have a jumper to do the job but SATA is in other respects jumperless). Then you can reinstall the disk in your machine.

2. Buy a host adapter card for SATA II and install it in a free slot in your machine - but may be better to put the money towards a new motherboard.

Memory

Hi,

Unplug both ram dim. Plugin one single ram dim and check. Remove first and plugin second dim then check is detected ? If both are detected one by one then check clock speed of both rams , it should match, otherwise only one will be detected. Also check motherboard manual for supported ram eg. ddr1, ddr2 , cloack speed etc.

Thanks,

Vksr
