Re: Loud hissing through rear (souround sound) speakers
I have the Sony Bravia KDL-46S4100. The high-picthed hiss drives me insane. I have a work around but not a fix. Go into your TV's menu and find BACKLIGHT. Adjust it from 1-9 with the house quiet and find what frequency of the hiss is the least annoying.

May be a fuse inside blown , if it makes a loud pop that can take out a fuse, If you find one blown , replace with same type and try machine .Dont replace with higher rated fuse though , if it keeps blowing. Try using headphones and if you get sound , may be speakers. pete
I'll assume you mean you want audio from the TV to enter the unnamed 'rca dvd and souround system ' as that is where audio should all converge.
For this purpose you should have an RCA audio cable pair running from the FIXED AUDIO L and R outputs to any available input on the unnamed audio electronics. If you use(d) the VARIABLE AUDIO outputs the TV's volume control would affect the sound at the electronics end.
If the cable tv has audio out jacks, or if you have a cable box with an optical audio cable, plug either the audio jacks into the RCA system or the optical audio cable, and the system should automatically simulate 5.1, through Dolby Pro Logic II. All speakers will not be at the same volume as they are simulating surround sound, not just playing the audio.
The TV will never have sound for the DVD as this system has no audio out puts. Realistically, most televisions have 10w speakers, and this system is 130w, so the TV speakers are useless in comparison.
Hello any cable or satelite tv show is now more comonly in high definition sound and video! and the techs are wrong because their are plenty of movies on tv including news channels that broadcast in surround sound ,but in order to get that surround sound you must either have a connection from the tv,s audio out or you can also out put the sound from the cable or satelite box out to your bose system as as the scritching sound where does it only happen when in surround mode or stereo mode ? if you play a dvd or cd does it still make noise? and can you be more specific on your terminology SCRITCHING not really shure what you mean by that word! thank you glenn mayer
I think its the fact that the speakers are pretty tiny, even tho BOSE has proved that size doesnt matter. i will agree i have a descent size home and i have to max it out all the time to watch a movie just a design flaw IMHO.
