My custom patterns must have been deleted after changing batteries in 7550 as they do not show up. is there any way to recover them without re-entering them
Unfortunately, they are not recoverable. Next time you need to change the batteries, make sure the machine is plugged in to ensure that what is in the user memory is retained.
Unfortunately you will have to re-enter your patterns.

For a 7550, this has been noted, AND also, if batteries show leak or any corrosion, clean only with mild soap, dish, do not use acetone, alcohol, any aggressive such as these can damage plated contacts.
How do I change the battery in my PFAFF 7550 creative sewing machine?
Switch on the sewing mahine to avoid deleting the memories during the battery change. Tilt the machine over backwards. A battery compartment is installed i the base. Using a screwdriver (as a lever, not to unscrew anything), pry up/off the cover. Take out the batteries. Insert new batteries with the "+" side facing upward. Replace the cover -- hinges should engage in the lower recess; the cover should snap in place. Use heavy duty batteries, such as Duracell. Battery size is AA
It sounds like your Pfaff 7550 Creative may be experiencing a hardware-related issue. To diagnose the problem, try resetting the machine by unplugging the power cord and waiting 10 minutes before plugging it back in. If the problem persists, then it is likely that the machine's control circuit board may have become damaged and will need to be replaced. Additionally, you should also check that the machine is receiving power by testing the power cord, power switch, and the foot pedal. If all of these components are working correctly, then the control circuit board will need to be replaced. If you need further assistance, you can consult a professional Pfaff technician for diagnosis and repair.
Use two AA batteries. Carefully lay the sewing machine on it's back and access the battery compartment located on the bottom of the machine. Consult your owners manual for further instruction.
Somewhere on the machine, usually the bottom, there is a switch to change the voltage settings of the machine. Please check that and your users manual for clarification.
The 7550 has a battery backup (little door on bottom of machine - 2 AA batteries). Remove batteries for a couple of days and the code should disappear. Removing the batteries WILL NOT effect the main memory of the machine - they are just for the backup of any personally designed stitches and memory combinations - not the hard memory of the machine. Periodically these batteries will need to be changed - a message will pop up on the screen to let you know.
Hope this helps (ex-Pfaff employee - GREAT MACHINE!)
