Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
I used my oven for the first time today. The heat rising up under my new Spacemaker triggered the automatic fan. The owner's manual says it should go off automatically after about 30 min. It's now 3 hours later - there's no heat to speak of - and the fan is still running. Meanwhile, I'm unable to use the microwave at all anymore.
Hopefully steam didn't get up into it. Apparently it was the heat, but it may be miswired or have a defect in the hood thermostat or on the controller. I always recommend using the hood fan when cooking on the stove top or in the oven but that may have been irrelevant here. I would definitely recommend calling the GE Answer Center at 1-800-626-2005 on this one. If the installation was done correctly, then an exchange may be in order. Early in the warranty, you should be very demanding!
