Question about HP PC Desktops

This past week I purchased a complete HP Pavilion computer. To my dismay, there was no written guide or teaching offer included in the package, i.e. where is the registration information; how do I turn the computer on/off; absolutely nothing to assist the purchaser. Sir or Madam, I am 73 years old. I worked outside my home for 47 years and this is the first time ever that a company such as HP would presume to think that at my age (or any other age)I would know every thing. Please advise, ASAP, how to rememdy this very, very serious problem. What could your experts be thinking when they pulled this stunt? Oh, well, sadly I do have another alternative --I'll have to return this over $1,000 computer and purchase another's manufacturer's brand. I thank you for any help you can extend. Hi, my 18month old hp pavilion has stopped working it has given me problems since I purchased it. For the last couple of weeks have had trouble booting up. It just got stuck on searching for drivers, now...


The first thing you need to do is backup any important data, such as pictures, files, and anything important that you've saved since purchasing your computer, including emails and any favorites in IE or Firefox 9which can create html or JSON backup files that will populate yout favorites after you restore your original system). If you haven't tried it yet, you may simply just need to do a system restore in Windows. Look up system restore in search to get to it and follow the instructions to restore to an earlier time. Usually a system checkpoint date is best. If you choose to do a restore with the HP recovery partition, that will restore your machine to the way it was when you purchased it and you'll lose some files depending on which restore type you select. All new data will be lost and the system will be returned to factory condition. You should also disconnect all external devices like printers, scanners etc.

Most new computers don't come with recovery disks like they used to. Instaed they have a recovery partition on your hard drive.There are a couple of ways to get to the recovery screen. One way is to tap the F10 key repeatedly when booting the PC. This should take you to a screen that shows your recovery option. Choose the simple one that won't completely restore and format your disk or all new data will be lost. Or, in Windows, you can go to start, then all programs, then HP tools and then select HP system recovery. I'd first try windows system restore though. That won't delete any of your current files or folders.

My Hp Pavilion Elite M9580a wont turn on. power light is on at the back but the light wont turn on


I recommend going through my guide it is entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

To me, off the bat, it sounds like a dead computer mainboard. However only purchase a replacement component when you know for sure which component it is.

My hp pavilion 513n has completely stopped working! I need help!


Start the computer, and keep pressing F8 until you get a "boot" menu -- white text on a black screen.
Select "safe mode with command-line", and see if Windows will start.
If it does, enter 'CHKDSK C: /F' to get Windows to check the integrity of the file-system.

Then, find a friend with a genuine Microsoft Windows XP CD-ROM. Boot from that disk, and choose "repair", and see if the boot-process can "repair" your installed copy.
