Question about Dishwashers
I have a Kenmore Model 665, s/n 15522000, type 280-1 dishwasher and the main dish washing detergent compartment door, located above the pre-wash compartment on the inside of the main door does not open during the entire wash cycle.
The door is spring loaded and snaps open when I depress the catch manually.
I assume the force of the water is supposed to spring the catch and open the door during the wash but it's not working.

Make certain that there are no apparent obstructions between water and detergent. If no obstructions and the detergent dispenser and spray arms are operable, then the detergent should dissolve during wash. Otherwise, try using a different kind and amount of detergent (e.g.: powder vs. gel or gel vs. powder, and less detergent). If still clumping, contact an appliance service company.
