Question about Marantz SR-7200 Receiver

1 Answer

Ghosting effect??? I am using the Marantz SR-7200 av reciever and running a Marantz 300 Disc dvd player that is hooked up to a Sharp Projector for my home theater. Now when I plug the projector directly into the dvd player there is no problems at all and the "ghosting" is gone but when i run it through the reciever like it should be I get this "ghosting" affect. It's not terrible during fast paced adventure sequences but it's still noticeable especially when you want to watch cable. Now the problem wouldn't be a big deal, but I can't run seperate cords to my projector due to the fact that all of the equipment is stored in a seperate room with the cords built into the walls. So that causes its own problem. Anyways if someone knows of an easy fix or anything like that that I haven't tried. I also use the three Red Green and Blue coated plug ins (it uses the symnbols of Y and stuff). I don't understand it it jsut started doing it. THank you. Any help PLEASE!!!

Re: Ghosting effect???

The video switching on your receiver is bad. This is a sore spot in an otherwise excellent unit. IFfit is out of it's 3 year warr. the repair will be prohibitive so I suggest getting a video switcher and use it instead. Some of them can be programmed to work with the Marantz remote so you don't have to switch with 2 remotes.

Marantz SR-7200 reset

This was documented on the Marantz website briefly a year ago and is no longer available. My SR-7200 develops "click/pop" problems and a reset cures it of these issues.

While powered "off," on the front panel, press: A/D + FP +Dimmer (3 buttons) and power the unit on.

This reverts to original (out of box) settings. You then must reprogram input sources, speaker setup, levels and radio stations.

OSD control from receiver

I had the same problem on my 7200 until I realized that the display comes up on the television screen. I carefully followed the set up required from the manual. I got the Manual online at I have a cable hook up so I connected the video cable out from the box to the Video in source on the 7200 and monitor out to my Television. I then pressed the Amp button to get the remote to Amp mode. I then pressed the OK button that is in the center of the four direction buttons and the menu displayed itself on the screen . I hope this helps. ercble

Marantz sr-7200 no OSD

Press AMP then OK on your remote. If the menue does not appear press 9 on the remote. You must have your monitor connected through composit Monitor Out or S-VHS.
Also check your multiroom settings. Maybe your OSD signal is diverted through to other room. I do not have SR-7200 any more, unfortunately.

No audio

Go to amp set up menu and make sure it knows the cables you are useing,ie-if the dvd is wired with coax for sound go to input set up and tell the amp you are useing this type of cable. If this is not the problem and the sound is going off one device at a time your amp needs to go back to your dealer.
hope this helps.

No Audio when I play Blu-Ray discs with Dolby TrueHD

For dolby digital to work you have to have the optical or coax cable hooked up to the reciever ,The HDMI cable is for digital video and audio output but does not support dolby digital out the cable into your reciever , so just turn off the dolby digital on your reciever and you should hear the sound.
here is more info

Dolby TrueHD is an advanced lossless multi-channel audio codec developed by Dolby Laboratories which is intended primarily for high-definition home-entertainment equipment such as Blu-ray Disc. It is the successor to the AC-3 Dolby Digital surround sound codec which was used as the audio standard for DVD discs. In this application, Dolby TrueHD competes with DTS-HD Master Audio, another lossless codec from Digital Theater System.
Dolby TrueHD uses Meridian Lossless Packing (MLP) as its mathematical basis for compressing audio samples. MLP was used on the earlier DVD-Audio format, but details of TrueHD and DVD-Audio differ substantially. A Dolby TrueHD bitstream can carry up to 14 discrete sound channels. Sample depths up to 24 bits/sample and audio sample rates up to 192 kHz are supported. Like the more common legacy codec Dolby Digital, TrueHD bitstreams carry program metadata. Metadata is separate from the coding format and compressed audio samples, but stores relevant information about the audio waveform. For example, dialog normalization and Dynamic range compression are controlled by metadata embedded in the TrueHD bitstream.

Marantz SR-7200 Goes to pure static and volume spikes

If the noise is not present in Direct or Pure Direct mode it is definitely associated with digital circuits.
I assume, the unit is not under warranty. Open it and inspect connections to and from digital board. If this does not help it might be faulty connection on the board and it is better leaveing this to a specialist. I hope you did not fiddle with the service menu?!
