Re: the icon that tells you the power is on is flashing
Hi Try the following: 1. Press on your unit up down and reset together. Your unit will start and read the BIOS from the HD. 2. Do not change anything - no up/down! 3. Press OK to write it back 4. Press Menu to get out.
I assume that your BIOS got broken by the circuit breaker. Good luck nekrub2

Hello If use box trips out when you switch ON thie DVD player, the power supply regulator board inside the DVD player has some kind of Diret Short circuit with it. The set needs through checkup, sometimes the power regulator boad may need replacement. The components of philips power supply systems are ver difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. OK.
First unplug it and check the entire cord for spits and or cracks. Make sure that is OK. Some outlet sockets have a circuit breaker on them. If you have one see if it accidentally tripped and reset it. Perhaps the circuit breaker in the circuit box tripped. Check that as well. Now maybe the outlet you are using is bad or went bad. Try an outlet you know is working right now. If you try all of these and it does not turn on then something inside the DVD player is malfunctioning.
Press the timer button on the remote control. This will bring the manual timer screen up. Use the arrow buttons to select "Cancel". You will now have a list of programmes that are scheduled to be recorded. If any have unresolved next to them, select them and use the arrow buttons to select "Erase". Hope this helps - Pete
Hard drive issue or power supply. Power supply prone to bad capacitors (look for leakage/swollen tops)
If hard drive faulty you'll need a new one which is no small task. Disk contains firmware and custom file system and smallest I've got image is 10.7gig
