Thanks for the response......when I mentioned in the original problem of getting no gas that was with depressing the safety switch to light the furnace,,,,,,,,,I still get no gas when this switch is pressed.....I was looking at the furnace today and noticed there are a couple different lines running through different parts......I'm not sure which is a sensor bulb.........do you a reference site on the web that can help me or a place to find a manual for a dyna-glo heater ?

There is generally a safety switch somewhere on the gas control that needs to be pushed for gas to get to the pilot...if not, gas would just build up to an explosive state in the installation.  Find that push button, use a match or other source of flame to light the pilot.  Hold the button for about 15-30 seconds after ignition to allow the unit to 'see' the flame.
If the gas valve is bad, the first thing you might find bad is the sensor bulb.  Take the old one to the plumbing supply store to reference for replacement.  About $5.

I need a thermocouple for a dyna glo heater model #RMC-40GT

I believe on your particular model , that you have to replace the entire pilot assembly. As the thermocouple is an intricate part of it. In which case any LP or Natural Gas heater's pilot assembly will fit it. You will have to secify either Natural Gas or LP Gas when ordering.

I have provided 2 links to where you can purchase the pilot assembly you need.

Hmmm ... where did you buy the last one? Are they out of business?

Here is what I found when I used Google:

Ace Hardware may be a place you can order this stove from also.

If it is a few years old, it could be the thermocouple. These are usually available from Lowes. Take your model/serial # and if you can, take the old part too.

the "click" you hear is the pilot valve closing. the pilot valve is spring loaded to shut off when a flame is not detected or is detected then is not. try this desatech site. it is for reddy heaters but they might have the thermocouple you are looking for.

We had a problem keeping the pilot light to stay on, and this site recommended that it could possibly be the thermocoupler that was causing our problems also. We ordered the thermocouple, put it on,hooked it back up and it worked great! Thank you so much.
ordered thermocouple from www.masterparts.net
