Tv video blows when xbox 360 plugged to electric

We replaced a xbox with a xbox 360. All other left the same when we uplugged the xbox and plugged in the 360 the tv crackled, smelled of hot electrical, and lost all video. Plugged the 360 into a different tv at a different location and it worked fine. Brought that tv to the first location ,plugged in the tv..it worked with cable ,again plugged in the 360 and it immediately burnt the video on the 2d tv......on the 2d tv I still get cable tv video but no dvd/360 video only audio.

Have sound but no video

If you are using an AV cable, make sure that the yellow plug is in all the way to the TV. Also, make sure that the part that goes into the 360 is is in securely. Try jiggling it around, as the insides of AV cables sometimes come loose. You can also trying blowing into the plug and the 360. If possible, try another cable.

If you are using an HD cable, blow into each end and plug it in. If possible, try another cable.

My 360 does not have power to console. the light

Have you tried removing all extra accessories?

Xbox.com states:

Orange or Yellow Indicator Light

When the Xbox 360 power supply light is orange or yellow this means there is no problem with your console but the power supply can't supply it with power.

To remedy this problem, first try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. You'll also want to uplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord.

Wait for about five minutes and then reconnect everything. You might also want to try plugging it into another wall outlet without an extension cord.

If you are still getting an orange or yellow indicator light, then something is at fault with the Xbox 360 power supply. If this is the case, contact the Xbox 360 customer support to get a new one.

What arethe black dots appear when playing a xbox game

These "black dots" you talk abotu could be a variety of things and since you haven't given much detail it's hard for me to say.

Just double check it's not your TV or cables or any nearby electrical products causing interferance so you're certain the problem originates from your Xbox 360.

Hopefully, it's just a problem with your cable, maybe it's not plugged in right or maybe a replacement will fix it.

When I say hopefully, I mean, hopefully it's a cable fault as opposed to an Xbox 360 hardware fault. Variations of black lines or dots, or just general artifacts on screen while using your 360 usually happens prior to a hardware fault usualy concerning the GPU.

I guess it's just a waiting game for you now mate.

Just check it's not your TV or cables or any nearby electrical products causing interferance.

Xbox 360 wont work on my Tv now - always been fine before

Hi...

Make sure the switch on the 360 A/V cable is in the right position. Also unplug everything from the unit and plug it all back in again.
From the reading I've done on tech issues the 360 has a lot of temporary issues like that.

Make sure you sync the controller to the xbox by pressing the little white button on the top of the controller and then the same white button on the xbox near the memory card slot. Wait a few seconds and it should connect.

Depending on the type of Tv you have look for the Red Blue and Green RCA Compsite jacks on the back and the Left and Right Audio Which are Red & White Plug them in and Check the connection by turning th 360 plug to HD (near the console) and turn it the Tv and 360 on (make sure the Tv is on the right input) and that should do it.

YPbPr inputs not working

Tacz, What video input# on the back of the TV is your component video?? Are you sure the TV is set to look at that video input#??? You may be looking at one of the composite video inputs as far as the TV is concerned and with nothing plugged in to that input the TV would naturally give the error message you indicated. Let me know.. Bill
