Spilt Beer/Soft Drink on Camera

Up the pub the other night i was sitting down on the the stool with my camera in my pocket when someone accidently spilled aload of beer/soft drink on to my coat pocket in which my camera was lying. Obviously i could not dry it straight away.... and when i eventually got home i forgot to put it in the airing cupboard. So it did not get properly dried out till the next day. So tell me this, can it be fixed or is my camera royally scrwed?!?!?!

Re: Spilt Beer/Soft Drink on Camera

Screwed. you can try sending it into repairs but they were probably charge you more to fix the camera than what it's worth.

The beer has gone inside the camera and has stuffed it up so the only thing you can do is get it repaired but i thinkgetting it repaired may cost the same price you btought the camera if it is the same price charge the person that dropped beer on it and get a new one so good luck :) and please rate this solution... thanks cya...

Spilt soft drink on camera not noticed for 24 hours - system seems clogged up and screen appears to have liquid trapped under it. Not moving as though already chrystalised.

The inside of your camera is not only a sticky mess by now but the acid in the soft drink will continue to eat away at the circuit board. Could be an opportunity to get a shiny, new camera.

Have relaced lcd twice purchased 25 oct 2007 what is problem canon say i dropped it never have

Too much pressure on the LCD will crack it. Do not put anything on it or keep it in your pocket and sit down. You put too much pressure on the camera LCD. They are not well protected.

The lens it well not go out

Send to manufacturer for repairs or see if you purchased a Service plan from your retailer.

The most common reason for this happening is:
  1. Sticky substance (Cola/Fruit Drink/Coffee) leaked inside the camera.
  2. Camera was dropped damaging the delicate internal motors.
  3. Normal wear-and-tear.
Repairs on cameras cause by accidents (#'s 1 and 2) can be costly if you do not have a service plan, and the camera is older than 6-9 months.

Camera has lens error 14

Do not turn it on take the battery out and just let it sit for at least 3 days or however long it takes for liquid to dry As long as it is not turned on for a few days It should be just fine. However You should have it cleaned out by an electronics shop or when you do use it outside it will attract some Very unwanted insects like bees, wasps, due to the surgar residue from the beer. Wet digital camera

You can call Kodak first and inquire on the warranty coverage and by then ask for a servicer if they will not cover it and if its going to cost you as much as buying a new one to have it fix then might as well buy a new one. Thanks for using Fixya!!

We usually find some sort of sticky foreign material (juice, soft drink, or any other sticky material) has been spilled on the camera. This prevents the pop-up flash from lifting. Inspect the pop-up flash for cleaning. If the material has gotten under the flash head the camera should be taken to a competent shop for cleaning. There are, as well, swiches under the flash head that fail. It could be any of these problems. Take it to a good repair shop.
