Took doors off Amana fridge and need help

I just bought a used Amana fridge (SXD26VW... P1315202WW) and to move it, the doors had to be removed. I have two problems, since I didn't watch how the guys unhooked it and I need to fix this before my husband gets home from work, for a variety of reasons.
1/To connect wires on top of freezer door hinge.
There Is a plug for four wires, another single plug. I can figure out where those go, but have not idea about the other two wires. One pink with no hardware off the end and another green/blue that has a bolt thing. I don't know where they attach. Is there some sort of diagram. I googled, but couldn't find anything.
2/This is driving me crazy...When the doors came off there was a long clear hose that goes up through the door of the freezer and hooks up to the water fountain. It came out of the door. I can't get it back up through the little hole through the door and do not know how to reattach it. (it actually looks like it was chewed off). I tried taking the moulding off the dispenser and was able to, but don't know how to get the hose back up there. How much of a Pain in the Behind is it to fix this? If I don't fix it and we still hook up the water for the ice maker will there be leakage....Can you help me? Before my husband gets home from work in a couple of hours?

Thanks, but this didn't answer my questions. I actually spent 1/2 hour on that website before I posted and could not find out any of the information per the diagrams. There is nothing on there that has the wiring schematic for the freezer door hinge, nor is there anything about the hose that goes throught the door for water.
I would like actual answers to my questions and not a diagram. Thanks anyway.

Please read my questions carefully before you respond.

I need help with the wiring at the hinge on the freezer door. Read first post for complete questions.
I also have a problem with the water hose, which came unhooked at the dispenser and I cannot get back into the door and do not know how to go about reattaching it.

  • cooperco Nov 22, 2008

OKay, it looks like the movers broke the hose. I don't have to have cold water, but I need a way to make sure that water isn't flowing into that hose, so I don't have water all over the floor.

HI FOLLOW THESE STEP
Step 1: If the door won't shut tightly, tip the refrigerator slightly backward by propping up the front of the unit or unscrewing the front leveling legs two complete turns. Experiment with this adjustment until the door stays closed, but don't tip the unit very far out of front-to-back level.

Step 2: If leveling doesn't work, tighten the hinge screws. You may have to open the door (especially the freezer door) to turn these screws. On some units, you may have to remove a hinge cap or trim to reach the screws; pry off the cap or trim with a screwdriver. Sagging and looseness can be corrected by shimming the door hinges. Loosen the hinge and place a hinge-shaped cardboard shim between the hinge and the door. Then tighten the hinge again. Sagging may also be caused by a wrongly placed shim. In this case, you can correct the problem by removing the shim. Experiment with the shims; you may be able to eliminate the sagging.

Step 3: If the door is warped, tighten the screws that hold the inner door shell to the outer door shell. You may have to change or adjust the door gasket after making this adjustment.

Step 4: Check the catch. Newer units have a magnetic catch on the door. If the door doesn't latch properly, remove the magnetic strike from the inner door shell and shim it slightly with a piece of thin cardboard. You may have to adjust the gasket to conform with the new shim.
BY THIS YOUR PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED.PLEASE RATE IT AS HELPFULL THAK YOU...........

The condenser fan is located under the bottom of the refrigerator. During the defrosting cycle, water may run through a small hose into the drain pan and is naturally evaporated. On some refrigerators, the drain hose is rubber instead of metal. This type of hose can become cracked, causing leaks. Examine the hose. If it's damaged, replace it with a new one of the same type. If you spot water on the floor, the drain pan may be tipped on its brackets, or the pan may be cracked or rusted. To eliminate the leak, realign or replace the pan.

if the gas content in the cylinder of the fridge has became less then you will get more water in the ice maker .....

the gas content might have got reduced due to some of the reasons like if the fridge is kept open for long period of time when it is in on etc ....

it is some what difficult to explain the wiring theoritically so it is better you call a technician and get it fitted ...

he will just take some charges ... it is really not much any way

To answer the question about the hose, They have broke it. The hose shouldnt come out of the door. It actually unplugs from the bottom of the refrigerator so if it out of the door, you have to buy a new hose and then take the door apart to reatach. To re apply the hose you should call a technician. They will have to order a new one and the whole door usually needs to be taken off. Sorry for the bad news. About the wires if you get me a model # i can get a diagram and tell you where they go.

I looked for a diagram of where the wires go. Couldnt find one. Pull the kick plate off the bottom of your machine and there may be one attached the kick plate backing or on the refrigerator. I there is not one located here the best thing to do is to call a technician.

Amana model SXD26VW. Freezer set to max. Not freezing well. Ice cream stays soft. Takes a couple of days for meat to freeze. Any ideas?

You need to have a Technician have a look at it. I suspect you have a coolant leak. You need to have him run a check on it. Do not do this yourself as it can be very dangerous for someone who does not know what to do.

Do the door hinges ever wear out

I did my own search for the same problem and saw Dougs question and lack of a solution. I have the same sagging door problem and was looking for a fix.
First, when I removed the weight of the items from inside the door, the door closes properly. This means that the door is not very sturdy and cannot hold the weight of items placed on door shelving. There are NO adjustment mechanisms on the door hinges either. Bad on Amana. The GOOD NEWS is that I fixed the problem.
Take out all items from the door shelves. I removed the top hinge with the door closed to keep it from falling. I took the door off and placed it on the floor. The lower hinge has a plastic pivot over a steel pin - remove that for a moment. Place steel washers over the steel pin - about .080" or so thickness. Replace the plastic pivot. Replace the door. Add the normal weight of items back on the door shelves. The door closes perfectly. At least until the door sags again and I'll need to add another shim.

Amana BX518VW refrigerator not getting cold enough

Amana is not a S.African make, but all work on the same principle. What i think you have is an evaporator fan motor that is located in the freezer compartment that has jambed up with ice. The freezer needs to be defrosted to allow freezer panel/s to be removed to allow access to the evaporator.Check motor for free movement and if turning freely, switch fridge back on and try and determine if fan comes on. (open door periodically to inspect) If so, replace panel/s and retry. Not sure if you have an auger motor controlling the frost intake to the fridge but if you do, it could also cause problems. Check to see if it can move freelt.

SXD26VW WILL RUN AND FREEZER WILL GO TO TEN DEGREES AND REF GOES TO 35. WITHOUT OPENINING DOORS BUT TO CHECK TEMP IS 40 DEG AND REF 55 IN A MATTER OF A HOUR

Listen for fan noise under the cabinet; the fan responsible for circulating air past the coils may have failed. You should also be able to detect a flow of warm air coming from the vent near the floor.
If you have air flow there, the system may need recharged with coolant. If it has ever been moved, the system may have gotten a leak during transport. This will require a service tech.

I NEED TO CHANGE LIGHT BULB WHERE WATER IS DISPENSED IN DOOR OF AMANA SXD26VW. PUT IN 12V - 6 WATT & IT BLEW THE BREAKER. WHAT SIZE BULB IS NEEDED. NO MARKINGS ON OLD BULB & NO OWNERS MANUAL.

It requires a 120 volt bulb. If it is a screw-base bulb, it's the same bulb as used in plug-in nite lights. If it's not a screw-in you'll need to go to an appliance parts store to the proper bulb.

I need to move my refrigerator, and to get it through the kitchen door I have to remove the frig and freezer doors from my Amana refrigerator (model # ARB2214CW) and then put them back on. Can you send me...

you will need to remove the freezer door first.

1.you will need to reach the top of the fridge. there is a cover there that will need to be removed. there might be a screw in the middle of it. if not than it just pops off.

2.you will need to remove those screws that hold that bracket on. after this you will be able to remove the freezer door. just open it and lift up the door will come off.

3.the bracket that the freezer came off of in the middle of the fridge you will need to remove these screws. After you have removed these screws the fridge door will come off. just open the door and lift up.

if you need to remove the lower bracket at the bottom of the fridge than you will need to remove the plastic cover and take the screws out of the bracket and the bracket will come off.
