Tungsten E Unable to sync Tungsten E with Vista system

Posted by on

  • TungstenE Apr 21, 2009

I have a new PC at work that runs on Vista; my home PC is older (NT?) and uses Outlook 2007

i have installed various updates from Palm (6.2) but nothing works

I can tell that my Palm DeskTop is NOT 'talking' to my Outlook; I have to use my Outlook for work, so it's not an option (nor a desire) to use DeskTop

It sounds like you need the drivers. Click here to get the Palm desktop 4.1.4 & hot sync software. That should fix your driver problems. If you have any more problems after this, comment and ill try to help. If i helped you please give me a high rating.

How do i transfer the data from the old palm to

The Palm Desktop (installed on your computer) should have all the information that is currently on it. Make sure that you sync before moving on.

On the tungsten, there will be a version of the palm desktop (updated) for it. Just install that version, it will find your old version, and import from there. PalmDesktop 6 supports Vista, unknown how well it will work as a 32bit app being emulated in 64bit environment.

I haven't used my palm in a while

If you don't remember the Palm password, you'll have to do a hard reset, which will erase all of the data.

Then, please download the latest Palm Desktop version from Palm.com and install it on your system.

After both of these steps, you should be able to sync.

Unable to hotsync with my computer

Also, if you have a new Tungsten E2 and there is no important data, I would hard reset it and then when you sync it, select the old profile of the previous Palm to see if that works.

The new Palm you have, is it a Tungsten E2 as well?

The profiles don't always carry over between different models.
