SOURCE: Broiling works but baking does not work

CHECK FOR 240VOLTS AT THE TERMINALS OF THE BAKE ELEMENT. GAIN ACCESS BY REMOVING THE BACK PANEL OF THE RANGE. SOMETIMES THE TERMINAL WILL BURN OFF OF THE WIRE GOING TO THE ELEMENT. THE WIRE WILL JUST BE HANGING THERE. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE OVEN BEFORE REMOVING BACK PANEL. IF THE WIRE IS BURNT, REPLACE THE TERMINAL AND REATTACH TO THE ELEMENTS TERMINAL. IF THE TERMINAL IS DAMAGED, REPLACE BAKE ELEMENT.
IF THERE IS NO VOLTAGE TO THE ELEMENT, REPLACE CONTROL.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Gallery stove, oven won't heat up (electric)

With the oven OFF, check the resistance of the bake element with a ohmmeter on the lowest scale. Rx1. If your reading is infinate, replace the element as most elements will open circuit when they burn out. They don't short out.

SOURCE: I have a frigidaire GAS stove. Oven doesn't work.

Hello,
Even though the ignitor glows it does not mean that it is working...sounds crazy but it is true... the ignitor needs to pull a certain amperage to let the gas valve open and as they get older they stop pulling enough current...
Check out this tip I wrote about this problem...

Hi Gina,
From what you are describing, it seems there was an "arc" from where the element itself was supposed to connected to the power in the bottom portion of the stove.
This may have caused the connector itself to burn, seal, or carbonize I.E. Blacken and not allow the element to properly connect to the internal workings.
The other possibility, because the broil is still working is that this particular model of a stove has multiple fuses for controlling the different elements in the oven portion.
You would need to consult the manual, likely available online via model number. The ranges themselves rarley change the electronics inside and if you cannot find the exact model number maybe a newer model 3 year newer would help.
The first thing to check is going to be the fuses themselves. If you have a multimeter available to check the current in the fuses.
If indeed it is the connectors where the element "clips" in to the base of the oven that has gone out, the work to replace it might be more tedious to accomplish.
If you find it is not the fuses, you can consult a repair guy, but likely, parts and labor will be more expensive than replacing the range itself.

Oven won't heat.

Good Afternoon Gwen - Try reprogramming the range by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn the unit back on. If issue persists, then the unit could possibly be experiencing an issue with a wiring failure, EOC (electronic oven control), sensor probe and/or faulty bake or broil element. I would strongly recommend consulting a professional to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause.

I have a Frigidaire range Model # FEF351CWB. When you turn the oven on for Bake the top and bottom coils do not heat but when you turn on Broil only the top coil heats and the bottom doesn't.

This means that the bottom heating element is burned out and need replacing, yes you are correct the top will come on when the knob is in the broiler position.

Frigidaire range model #FEFLFSA, is the top element

When you say Top Element, I assume you mean the TOP OVEN ELEMENT, correct? You have bake, and broil? Bake is usually on the bottom, and broil is the top. In order to have the oven operate correctly, the top and bottom elements may come on at start, in order to do as you just said, "Preheat the oven". This will insure an even distribution of the heat in the oven box and result in better cooking expierences. I would not be alarmed or concerned if the top element came on for a short period to pre-heat in preparation for cooking. This is normal. If the top element stayed on, and did not shut off on bake after the pre-heat period, then I would say you have a control board problem. However, if it comes on and then goes out, except when you are broiling, then I would say that this is normal for your stove, and the pre-heat mode of operations. Your owners manual should advise you of this very process in the guide section to how to use the oven. I hope this helps and that all your cakes, pies, souffle's and the like are......delicious. I'm sure they are. I hope this helps and eases your concerns. Kindest regards, Slats.

Top element wont heat wen oven is on bake

The top element normally operates only when you turn the temperature control all the up to the broil setting as it is the broiling element. If it doesn't work at the broil setting, suspect a bad brioler element or a faulty temperature control.

Jennaire broiler doesnt work on slidein range after using self clean oven. Its only 14 mo. old

if just your broil element does not work and the bake element does work after using a self clean cycle then your broil element must have went out , self clean is a torture proccess for any self clean oven and it runs both elements at 500 deg. F, it may be still under warranty , if not then replace the broil element for the fix.
