I think it was rated inappropriate because you didn't answer his question.....He asked what that error code meant and you gave some generic write up about timers that has nothing to do with the error. code. If you don't want to be rated inappropriate, answer the questions that are asked.

HI
Most washing machine timers are digital or mechanical. The timer controls most of the operations of the washer: water level, tub filling and emptying, length of cycles, and cycle setting sequences. For this reason, any repairs to the timer should be made by a professional service person. However, there are a couple of checks you can make when you suspect the timer is faulty -- you may be able to install a new timer yourself.

Step 1: Unplug the washer. To access the timer, remove the control knobs and the panel that covers the controls. This may be a front panel, or access may be through a panel at the back of the unit. Carefully examine the wires that connect the timer to the other parts of the washer. If the wires are loose or disconnected, try pushing them into position; they usually fit into their terminals like plugs. Use long-nosed pliers to avoid breaking the wire connections -- never pull a wire by hand.

Step 2: To test the timer, use a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Disconnect the power leads to the timer and clip one probe of the VOM to each lead. The VOM should read zero if the timer is working. Since the timer is a multiple switch, turn it through its cycle and test each pair of terminals in turn. The meter should read zero at all of these points. If one or more readings are above zero, the timer is faulty and should be replaced.

Step 3: To replace the timer, unscrew and disconnect the old one. Install a new timer made specifically for the washing machine. If there are many wires on the timer, have a helper hold the new timer next to the old one as you work. Disconnect the old wires one at a time, connecting each corresponding new wire as you work, to make sure the connections are properly made. Or, draw a diagram showing the connections before removing the old timer. After all the wires are connected, check the connections again for correctness and screw the timer assembly into place.PLEASE RATE AS HELPFULL

F3 E2 error code on my Maytag washing machine

I just had the same problem with my MayTag washing machine - F3 & E2 error codes.
I cleaned out the drain trap then proceeded to remove the top and rear panels to check the Temperature Sensor. The sensor was tested with an Ohms meter and found to be working properly.
I went over the wiring from the Temp Sensor and found that both black wires had been 'cut' under one of the zip ties near the bottom of the washer.
I had to reconnect them with marretts and presto; the washer works perfectly again. If you encounter this same problem - be diligent in going over the wiring. I missed it the first time around.
It's an easy fix for anyone who can strip a wire of the plastic coating.
Good luck :)

No lights on control board, door locked, MAH9700

Unfortunately the control board is dead and will need to be replaced. Here is the board to order if you decide to order it.
The E2 error code was for a stuck button and it would require the control board to be replaced also.

I have a Maytag Neptune MAH 6700 AWW. It is shutting off and giving error code tE. Customer service does not recognize the error code. Can you help?

This is a problem with the signal from the water heating element "Thermistor" a Thermistor is a solid state sensor that senses temperature, in this case water temp. The Thermistor is part of the washers water heating assembly and not sold separately from it. There is a factory repair bulletin associated with the problem and the new part has improved reliability. I can't understand what the Maytag folks you called would tell you it is not listed, it is a common fault in the Neptune. Please rate my help. Thanks

Error code E2 on neptune washer

Heeey - If I remeber correctly code 02 is the failure of the door to unlock, the microswitch fitted next to the door lock operates in unison with the door lock, it may well be the problem with the washer..

How do I stop the error E2 code on my washer? I

The E2 shows that there is a motor problem. This can be caused by having an extra heavy load in the machine so take some out and try it. It can also be cause by any iof the buttons being stuck so make sure they are all 'free'. If this fails then you will need to have a new motor and call a repair man unless you can do the job yourself.

Maytag Neptune Front Loader - E2 error code

The first time my E2 code came on the washer won't rinse or spin. I checked the drain pump to make sure it was working. (1) Take the back off and pull the two drain lines off pump. Be careful the line going to the drain has a backflow flap, make sure you don't tear it.

(2) On the other side where it drains from the washer to the pump is where I found a bobbie pin that had collected lint and was blocking the drain flow.

When it can't drain the E2 code comes on to let you know it won't rinse or spin.

Make sure to unplug machine before removing back,

Hope this helps everybody with E2 problems.
