Question about Homedics BPW-050 TheraP Automatic Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor with 60 Memories

2 Answers

What is USB port for?

On the top of the blood pressure monitor is a USB symbol and a port. I haven't seen similar USB ports. There is no attachment in my box and no mention of the USB port is made in the manual. But a couple of places online I have seen something about being able to download my readings? I am not sure how to do this.
I can go and buy a connector if needed. Do I need software?
Thanks for your help!!

I wouldn't waste your money on a "datalink" (usb) cable for your monitor, because there really isn't any use for it. From what I've gathered on the web, originally the monitor was to interface with Microsoft's HealthVault software; unfortunately, no driver was ever written for this monitor. Unless someone uses the developer kit to create a driver, interfacing the monitor with a PC will not be possible using HealthVault.

When I took my blood pressure SOMETIMES there's a heartbeat symbol next to my pulse reading, but SOMETIMES NOT! What does that mean and what the difference?

If you give me the make and model I can try and find your instruction manual. Reply as a COMMENT.

Blood pressure monitors can also give you your pulse rate. When the heart symbol is there, it has found it and is counting and when the heart symbol is missing it hasn't. This would normally be caused by the cuff not being placed on the upper arm in quite the right location.

What does the heart on the monitor means?

The blinking heart symbol indicates that the unit is slowly decreasing the pressure in the wrist cuff. This is when the unit is finding your Diastolic blood pressure. This is a normal symbol on most automatic blood pressure monitors. When a nurse or doctor uses a manual blood pressure cuff and listens to the blood flow, they will record the systolic pressure when they first hear the heart beat. Then they record the diastolic measurement when they can no longer hear the heart beat.

The manual for the KS-7902 is available here: http://pharmasupply.com/wordpress/pdf/wristman .

I hope this helps.

Lately when trying to get blood pressure "EE"

The EE symbol can mean one of three things: Excessive low blood pressure, improperly placed cuff or movement of the arm during the measurement.

Hope this helps solve the problem. If it continues, contact HoMedics Customer Service @ 800-466-3342

What is the data link for on the HoMedics #518729

There was supposed to be Healthvault software from Microsoft. Along with a optional USB adapter (from the micro port on the BP machine to the computer USB port) the software uploads the blood pressure data to a site where it can be shared electronically with those you choose, like several different doctors. I'm just researching this information having just bought a unit, but if you are persistant, you should be able to find the software link. Any micro USB to USB connector should work to connect to the computer. Merry Christmas and good luck! 12/25/09 by electro1
