    Printer is Canon Pixma IP4600

  • hthuy Nov 22, 2008

recto verso means printing two pages on 1 sheet, front and back.
The Canon Pixma IP4600 is sold ad being able to do this, even automatically.
I cannot find this option in the print setup dialog boxes (on my Mac - printer is sold as PC and Mac compatible!)
    Canon support is ... dead!

  • hthuy Nov 22, 2008

I installed the Mac drivers available as per the printer setup CD v M1.0 which came with the printer

  • hthuy Nov 22, 2008

    to micromaster:
the driver you suggest is an easyphoto printer driver - I am talking about double-sided document printing on A4 size paper

this link does not provide me with any new drivers nor manuals nor other . The intial setup CD includes al that.

Assuming this printer does not have built-in 2-sided capability: Click FILE - PRINT and in the Print box change All Pages in Range to Odd Pages. Print your document and then reload the printed pages so the blank side will be printed on (keep them in the same order!) and print, setting the Print box to Even Pages.

How can you configure recto verso on a printer that does not have recto verso settings?

Your printer has automatic double side printing. That means that it will automatically print on both sides to save paper unless " automatic double side printing" is disabled. You cannot set recto verso on this printer, it is automatic.

If you need more settings I suggest buying a professional color laser printer.

Before you eventually refuse my solution, and cut down communication, I wanted to say that I went through printer specs before telling you this, I am not just guessing. You cannot set recto and verso, or collate, you just print and decide if you want simple single side, or automatic double side. That is all you can do on this printer.

    Here is my previous comment;

    • Confirm that the cable is connected and the printer is powered on before continuing.

    • Do not use paper sizes smaller than 5" x 7" when using the 'Automatic Duplex Printing' function.

    • Due to OS limitations, multiple copies cannot be printed when 'Automatic Duplex Printing' is selected.

    1. To open the Print dialog, open the file to print, and select 'Print' from the File menu.

    2. In the Printer pop-up menu, select the printer you are using.

    3. In the third pop-up menu from the top, select Duplex Printing & Margin.

    4. Check 'Automatic Duplex Printing'.

    5. Select the proper options for the following:

    (5-1) Print Area:
In duplex printing, the printable area of the top of the paper is
smaller than normal printing by 2 mm. To keep the entire print data
within the printable area for printing, select 'Use reduced printing'.
To print in regular size, select 'Use normal-size printing'.

(5-2) Stapling side: Select one of the following for the location of the staple:

    • Long-side stapling (Left)

    • Long-side stapling (Right)

    • Short-side stapling (Top)

    • Short-side stapling (Bottom)

(5-3) Margin for stapling: Specify the margin between 0 and 30 mm.

    6. Click 'Print' to perform printing. Note: After printing on the first
side of the paper, the printer will stop printing temporarily to allow
the ink to dry. Do not touch the printed surface.

    7. Settings for duplex printing are completed.

hi,

1. to print on a cd, there is a (cd sticker paper) available in the market, buy it and feed it in your printer...
2. to print on a cd, you should have special software such as... Nero Burn version 5.0/5.5/6.0/6.5/7.0,
this is a cd burning software, in this software you will find sticker designing option, where you can
select images or text to design the cd for printing..

Canon pixma ip4600 black ink problem

The PGI-220 is the larger ink tank and is filled with standard black ink. The PGI-221 black cartridge is the photo black. There is no way to force the printer to use the photo black cartridge (skinny one) to print documents. The photo black cartridge is only used if you print a photo. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling shop and I can't refill these cartridges yet. There is no way to reset the ink level chip without a resetter and any replacement chips you find on the internet are technically violating patent law.

Printing recto verso

On your computer, click mouse on windows icon in lower left corner of screen. When the menu appears, left click on 'printers'. Go to the icon representing the Xerox, and right click mouse. from the drop-down list, chose 'properties' at the bottom. The 'properties' window should appear. Under the ''general' tab, it should show 'yes' for double sided prints. Go to the 'accessories' tab and left click mouse. A list of installed accessories should appear. See if there is a 'duplexer' accessory available. If it is, left click on the duplexer display and add it to the Xerox. Left click mouse on "apply" tab, then left click on the "OK' tab. Exit out of 'printers' and test.
