    welcomege,

I wish I had the tool to take it apart. I will try to buy a teeny screw driver and then try it asap.

My last response was to the person who told me to take and leave out the battery and then put it back and tap the camera. That is the one I tried and it didn't work.

    Thanks Marcy

any ideas for me that don't require taking it apart?

  • MarcyRN Nov 22, 2008

findmeifyoucan, I wish you were wrong..and think you may be right. I will still try to take it apart as someone suggested and look at the mechanism. Seems like there isn't anything to lose as it is likely landfill at this point. Thanks Marcy

    Benimur,

Tried slamming it..got into it and it didn't help the camera, but I am starting to feel better with the situation. I think it is now landfill. Thanks Marcy

You ruined your camers, but it is still worth fixing.

To repair a shock lens error , like yours the technician wioll need to disassemble and re assemble the whole lens cylinder.

it says lens error and u have dropped it. 1)try to tap the sides of the camera for few minutes it should get realigned but if still shows the same problem.then its the problem of broken lens. getting it repaired is necessary but it will be costly .but the problem will be fixed. still if you want to go for a new camera it is not a bad idea.  thanks.

Hi,

Offhand, would suggest "go for broke". Jar the camera into action. Hit the bottom with the palm of your hand. Some have reported success jarring it against an open book. If it works, well & good, if not, the cost of repair may no longer be economical anyway. sorry.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

If lens mechanism is damaged then its not worth to get repaired.
As you know camera is already damaged due to drop, you can open it and check / inspect lens mechanism which might be get settled if you pull or push its folding rings gently.

If lens is damaged, taking battery out and reinserting isn't solution.

Camera has to be apart to check lens mechanism. In many cases, lens mechanism just got misaligned due to drop. Inspect lens carefully and see is it tilted towards any side? push it to other side so its mechanism grooved might settled.

Hi,

Please try reseting your camera first by removing the battery and mem. card for 10 min.Next insert the battery only and then try turning on the camera. If you still get the error then last thing you can try is tapping your camera on the table surface for 3 times and then turn it on again.

it was not advisable for you to service and open the camera. some tiny parts and sensitive mechanical parts could be damaged.

it is better to take the camera to a authorized service center.

There is no DYI fix for your damaged lens, and attempting to repair it yourself will likely cause serious damage to the camera. Professional repair is needed to fix this problem.

Lens error on casio ex-z9

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea
