If this model has a fill tube on it- turn the unit on its side to drain.

Hi, at the base of your engine there is what you call a plug. it has a square top and it is screwed in motor casting. just un screw it and the oil will come out.

If this doesn’t work for you please write back. Thanks,

Snow blower dont stay running and back fires

Does it backfire or fire out the exhaust? If it is the exhaust you need your valve clearance adjusted. The carb usually means either a bent flywhell key or a failing ignition coil.

Mtd snow blower 8 hp oil capacity

What engine do you have? Tecumseh those are usual 18-21oz Not sure with briggs, but will be around a 1/2 qt (16oz) start there. Add a little at a time to bring level up. get back if you have and need more specifics.

Need a manual for yard machine snow blower, model #31A-260-7310

Assuming that you have a Tecumseh engine on your machine, this should help you out a bit. Tecumseh also has some other very helpful documentation on their TecumsehPower.com website.

What kind of oil shoukd I use on a 24"cut MTD yard

I'm assuming you have a Tecumseh engine on there. But a Briggs would be the same. This is straight from Tecumseh, though (long story short is run 5W30 Oil or 0W30 Synthetic in it assuming winter temperatures:

I have--yard machines 4.5hp 21in wide. snow blower 1 stage. when i push in deep snow ( not over doing it ) it bogg's down and seems to want to stall out.. i looked for a vacuum line. what else to look...

Hi clearwatered, sounds like your high speed adjustment may be a little lean. Back it out(counter clockwise) a quarter to 1 half turn and see if that helps. I am assuming your not asking it to do more than designed to do. Happy holidays.

Snow blower gets bogged down in snow.

It sounds like your engine is running lean, see if you can adjust the high throttle mixture on the carburetor (if possible at all). If there is no adjustment possible, it may be the carb is clogged and needs some service. Try cleaning it or find a new replacement carb for it.
