What it sounds like to me is that your router has been running for a while, and thus start to break down slowly. You coul try power cycling it.

power cycling:
1.) Only unplug the power cord from the modem only, for about one minute.
2.) After one minute has passed, plug the power cord back into the modem, give it a few seconds to boot up again, and it should work.

If the modem still does not work, then the problem might lie with the computer itself, very hard to see happen, but it could still happen.
If in then that case, you would have to system restore your computer to an earlier date. that it was working fine on.

SOURCE: I have the RCA DCM425C cable modem and also Vonage

You would connect from the output of the Vonage modem to the wireless router and then from the wireless router you can connect Ethernet to your desktop if you have one and then anything else can run off of the wireless.

or

get a wireless router / cable modem combo provided by companies such as netgear then you would connect the Vonage to the router through one of the available Ethernet ports and any other Ethernet connections to the router as well and anything else wireless would work wireless.

SOURCE: RCA Thomson digital cable modem internet light is

looking at the internal modem page.usually:192.168.100.1. on your browser.explorer works best for this look up. you dont need internet access for this. once inside you can look at signal strength coming from the street and signal going back. if its out of spec.then that needs to be corrected. Note :call your provider and ask for down/up stream
specifications. also weather or not your modem is ( EOL) End of life.
Good Luck.

I recently purchase comcast internet and cable. I have a motorola surfboard SB5101U cable modem and when I try 2 connect my xbox to xboxlive, it says that my network doesn't have a sufficient MTU setting....

You actually should call comcast and tell them about the issue, They have a backdoor into your modem that they can troubleshoot it for you. The issue with their modems is they are usually locked with some weird password they use.

Usually with a modem or router you can dial an internal page but there system like Time Warner is set to their needs so that they can keep that back-door open.

Comcast phone number is 1-800-266-2278 or 1-800-Comcast same numbers thats just the way they word it on their site.

The internet light is flashing on the rca dcm425 i reset it and the router and still cannot connect but the cable is working and the light just flashes

My RCA DCM425C from Comcast had the same problem when I came home Saturday, 11/14/09 (coincidentally the same day you posted). Had been working fine - cable TV still works fine including On Demand, etc. The Internet light was blinking. Occasionally I'd see it try to work from one light to three or four, but it always came back to one. Called Comcast, they said their side showed "no signal". Sent out a tech today. He replaced the cable modem, reprovisioned it (I guess if I had a backup ready I could have done the provisioning over the phone maybe?)), everything's great. Lasted about a year and a half. When I logged in via http://192.168.100.1, it said it was still in Step 1 of 5 ("Tuning"), and the logs showed a whole bunch of errors on Saturday that stopped after that. Diagnostics would always freeze the built-in web server and require reboot.

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
