I find a good way to make my computer faster is to run a Disk Defragmenton the program "Disk Defragmenter", it takes a bit of time to sort all your files out but i fins that it makes my computer run a lot smoother after it. :)

After system recovery of my sony Vaio PCV-RS510, I did a Vaio updates and now computer will not boot. None of the buttons or keys working. Displaying "Sony" only.

If you have an install disc boot to it, restart your PC hold down F12 and select the CD/DVD Drive. If it boots to disc, go to the command prompt then run SFC /scannow. This will run the system file checker and repair your files as well.

Hello,

Enable for you to fix this kind of problem, you need to have the windows operating system disk. The disc came with the computer when you bought it.

Here are the things that you need to do:

1. Turn on the computer and insert the installation disc in CD/DVD drive.
2. Turn it off.
3. Turn it on again, once you see a message "press any key to boot to CD", then press any key.
4. You will reach to the options to "Install Now" or "Repair the PC". Select repair the PC.
5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation
and click Next.
6. Click START UP REPAIR
7. Click Load Drivers if it asks you to do so.
8. After it loads, it will then restart your computer.
9. Don't press any key anymore once it asks you. Remove the CD.

I hope this helps.

Adding more hard space

If you are running out of hard disk space you need to do disk maintenance to recover lost disk space.
Please click on this link and follow my instructions :-
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559146-hard_disk_maintenance

If you still need more disk space you can add another hard disk to your computer as a slave hard drive. You can move your data to this new hard drive and free up disk space on your C Drive.

My Sony Vaio PCV RZ 30GN2, "C" Drive is full. The "D" Drive is only half full. So, my question is: 1) Are the "C" and "D" drives only logical drives created by...

To check to see if you have one or two hard drives, go to the BIOS, if the BIOS detects one hard drive then your hard drive has two partitions which is the C and D drives.
To create a single partition C drive or make the C driver larger size and the D driver by a equal smaller size then you need a program like Partition Magic.

PC runs slow. Only has 512 RAM. Is there space for more? Machine is a Sony VAIO, about 7 yrs old. Model PCV 2234

1. Wait the long 5 minutes for your computer to boot. Once you're on the desktop, go to the start menu. Select "run..." Type "msconfig" (no quotes) into the box. The Microsoft system configuration utility should pop up (if you're on Windows XP, Windows 2K users visit: www.techadvice.com/win2000/m/msconfig_w2k.htm

Once this handy tool pops up go to the "Startup" tab...
You will see a list of every process that runs on system startup. Some of these should look familiar; if you know what a program on this list is and you know you don't want it loading on system startup, uncheck it. There will probably be items on the list that you don't recognize. Any of the things on this list can be googled; you'll find a page which explains what a process is, and if it's vital to the system or not. Anything non-essential or unwanted should just be unchecked. Without having to load all that additional garbage your aging computer should boot up much faster (depending on how many processes you disabled). When you exit the msconfig utility you'll see a message about restarting now or later; you are not required to restart right after you do this.
