when I had the mother board out......I didn't see any fuses (that looked like car fuses) on it.....but thanks for the effort

  • bg453wire Nov 22, 2008

vague? the proper voltage is there.....and the unit goes on and the fan blows but no heat comes out.......I don't know how to explain in more detail...........I noticed what looks to be a transformer under the mother board......I don't see that to be the problem as there is 230v at the mother board.......there appears to be a large capacitor like (tank shaped) unit behind the transformer looking object.......could that be bad or is there another fuse somewhere else or could the sensor that is attached to the fins on the front of the unit that goes to the thermostat dial be open all the time telling the mother board to keep the voltage off of the heating element?

I see that by that on the initial post......but the heading (our heater blows cold air) I thought that was the title of this help me post.........sorry

Most boards have a small 3 or 5 amp fuse on the board it looks just like a car fuse. do not put in wrong size fuse it can allow damage to the board.

actually now that i read it again you did not even state a problem only asked about fuses

oh good it sounds like your flames are not igniting. there are two kinds of ignitors. hot surface which you can see get cherry red and then the gas valve opens. or a spark ignitor that you can hear clicking repeatedly before gas valve opens. i believe your ignitor is bad or your gas valve is not opening to allow the ignitors to do the job. if you can tell me if you hear or see the ignitor working i can further advise. you may need a volt meter for further diagmnosis.

My 1993 Z28 camaro blows strong air but not cold in summer and defrost will not clean the windows. What could be the cause of this problem?

My Camaro's are all victoms of the air flow control vaulve. My 77 had a cable that phyisically opened and shut off air flowfrom the heat and cold side and operated as I moved it from cold to heat. Then they came out with Vacuum assisted air control units that when the rubber vaccum tube dehydraded, it would be stuck in what ever it was in last, say A/C, or if u had the heater on that day. You have either cables or air hoses that open and close certain doors under your dash according to where you place the enviromental control to. 9 times out of 10, that control mechinisim froze up, a plennum door could have broken off leaving that area always open and the heater is always off. Check the book, im not 100% but it may be all electronic in the 93's if so, first check your fuses. Also check the passenger floor board for dampness. If the passenger floor board is wet, then your heater core ruptured also. It's a mini radiator under the pass. side dash. But the real deal is the air vents that open and close according to your input are not moving at all, and if they are electronic well Don't rip the dash out, that is a pain to reinstall LOL, Best bet is to take it to the chevy house because if you get the book, u'll see theres quite a few moving parts and with old plastic and them dehydrating, you can easly brake a door control and make matters worse. Good luck.

1992 Dodge Dakota 2wd 3.9L V6 Air conditioning/Heater dosent blow? when i turn the air or the heat on i can hear the compressor kick on but it dosen't blow cold or hot? any help would be appreciated

Roger it sounds like the blower motor is not comming on. There is a resistor network located in the engine compartment on the passenger side mounted to the firewall, that controlls the blower motor. The connections may have corroted or the unit itself is bad. That was the first thing I had to relpace when I got my used 92 Dakota. There is also a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box under the dash board . If that is blown I would suspect the blower motor is seized up or just pulling too much power.

You are going to need to use a multimeter and have a professional test the relay voltages. This should probably only take an hour, make sure they have the proper electrical schematic for your vehicle year make and model.

Wireing this type AC with the wrong voltage, will damage more than the circuit boards. I think the installer wil need to be responsible for the damage he created. The factory will also try to get out of the replacement because of the installers lack of know how.
