My acer n30 has developed a problem - tapping the screen to bring up a menu has almost stopped working altogether. It works fine with a mouse attached. Tapping 'Start' for instance has no effect, but will work intermittently.
Sounds as if the touch screen membrane is defective, which is a darned nuisance, but not impossible to fix .... if you are confident of dismantling the n30, you can buy a new touch screen membrane from Ebay for about 4 pounds/6 dollars. It is a very skilful job to remove the old touch membrane from the actual display screen below it, not really for a novice, and all internal components are very delicate, so i suggest you find a tame technician before you buy the new membrane. The touch membrane connects to the motherboard via a tiny flexible 4 or 5 pin membrane ribbon cable, it's a miracle of miniature engineering inside the n30, so do ve very careful if you decide to do it yourself, best of luck!

Hi. You should tap the screen with the stylus carefully and with a little bit more pressure, accurately on the cross sign evertime it appears. When you successfully tap each cross sign once, you would be able to pass to the other settings, but in case there is a problem passing though the screen aligning, here is a small tutorial about how to bypass that screen through your PC: (http://goatechno.blogspot.com/2008/12/windows-mobile-stuck-at-screen.html) Hope this helps.
If your router has wireless broadcasting. Check all the settings in your router. try checking your power saving options, you can drop down the backlight a little lower to extend battery life. Also you can lower down the volume of the system sound and check if the bluetooth is on, then turn it off. Recharge it and then check if the battery life extends. You also need to occasionally soft-reset the n30
