Lamp/Program led blinks

When you push the on button the blue light turns on and then the red lamp/program led blinks over and over. I changed the lamp, had a new back up lamp but the old one didn't look broken. and still doing the same thing.

    Should I only be looking at the board that the power goes into?

  • dalance Nov 22, 2008

    The board looked OK and all the connections looked good. Any other ideas?

  • dalance Nov 24, 2008

    Nothing is wrong with the boards, could it be sensors that are bad?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, if you have change the lamp to a known good/new then the lamp indicator should no longer blink. Not unless the light engine itself is faulty. If so, this is a major repair and might be best to seek professional repair. Other related areas and ideas you could explore/check would be:

  • fan;
  • the new lamp itself maybe faulty if it is with the same batch/inventory as the original. I was made to understand that JVC has since then replaced these lamps with improved versions;
  • ballast;
  • power board;
  • there is also a known common problem - "intermittent connection in crimp of CN307". This would be the cable assembly, one specifically for a 'DIN Cord Assembly' and is described as a 17 pin JVC Cable;
  • ambient temperature has known effects on the life of the old bulbs.
It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual, service bulletins or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings if you are considering further DIY (do-it-yourself) repair.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

I understand your examination that board looks good but sometimes it seems to look good but the tracks which moves from 1 point to another are just getting broken at a point and that needs to be checked with a multimeter.and also if any of the capacitor getting loose on the main board can give such problems so resoldering all the capacitors and ics properly can make this problem solve if it is due to loose capacitor or ICs.but if its due to short track in the board it needs to repaired to make it proper. thanks

If all else fails, you can probably bet that your power supply has gone bad. Many people make the mistake of hooking up TV's to surge protector strips when the set actually has an internal surge protection device. This will cause the power supply to work harder as the power strip limits the amount of power going to the supply. In addition, many people don't plug their TV into surge protectors although certain sets DO NOT have internal surge protection. This could cause the smallest power spike tp fry out your power supply as well, If the TV is still under warranty, I would suggest going that route. If not, try calling around to get a few estimates to see if you can find a decent price to get it repaired. Hope this info proves useful. Have a wonderful evening!

    First make sure all the cable at the back of the TV is connected properly.

    The problem you referred means that the TV is going in protect mode because it detects an internal problem, try leaving it unplugged for a longer time, let say one hour or two.
    Basically, what happens is that the TV does not start because it detects that there is an internal problem, such as a wrong voltage, a bad component, overheating etc.
    When you unplug power and restart it, you reset the internal circuit, and the TV will restart, not detecting the internal problem.
    As soon as the TV gets hot, after staying on for a while, the defective part start giving troubles, as the defective component (probably an IC, starts overheating).

    From description, the Digital Processing Board can be cause for the problem as there is no video.
    However all the following parts can be involved.

    Parts involved can be

    Digital Processing Board
    LCD Controller

    Contact some local tech shop or geeksquad to get the unit repaired.

    Thanks

Try a reset. Start by unplugging for 1 minute, then plug back in & if still won't restart try the following. If none of the following work, you will need a technician.

Installed new lamp. When powered up blue solid light and yellow blinking light (15x) , tv would torn off and on several times trying to light lamp. Once that failed red blinking light and yellow solid...

Hi Genaro,

Blue led light lit solid and yellow led light flashes is an initial attempt of the set to re-light the lamp.Red led flashes and yellow led light solid means that the lamp won't light up that's why it only has sound without the picture.
Since you've replaced the lamp twice and still the symptoms persist, I suspected that the fault came from the ballast board and not on the lamp itself. If the ballast board gone to malfunction, there's no high voltage will produce to light up the lamp and will sensed by the processor and trigger the error code (Flashes/solid led light with color code).

To verify whether the ballast board is faulty or not, check if the lamp will lit by looking through the lamp door louvers at the rear of the cabinet upon turning on the set.
Please let me know what you will find to assist you further.

Sony wega kdf42we655 power led blinking red

If lamp light is on at tv front then replace lamp as existing lamp sounds dead/ broken.
Lamp replacement procedure would be written in user manual of tv.
And if lamp light is not on but standby light is blinking then let me know how many times it is blinking to find out problem cause as standby light blinking is an error code.

Please help!!! Problem with JVC DLP TV

You need to replace the power supply board. The new ones have a bigger heat sink - obviously JVC knows about the problem because they made the new ones bigger. It cost $250 from JVC and I installed it myself - took about 3 hours to do. If you are not tech savvy call a repairman. Hope this helps.

I would agree with you on that the power board could be at fault. The best course of action would be to get the board/TV checked out professionally. It could be the dry joints, resistors or capacitors.
