Question about Microsoft Deluo Universal GPS USB connector with Streets and Trips 2005 GPS Receiver
I have Microsoft S & T 2008 and an IBM T-42 laptop. Twice this year I use this setup for guidence on a tirp. On both these trips the weight of the GPS and the vibrations it recieves from riding in my van causes the connector to start coming apart, which causes the GPS unit to NOT work any more. The first time I returned it to the store, as I will try that again.
Do you have any suggestions to remidy this problem in the future? I have tried useing the cable but have found it to not be as reliable (stable). Has anyone else had this problem?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

CAUSE This issue may occur when the Network ID setting on your computer is configured with a workgroup name that contains a special character--for example, a period. A workgroup name can contain up to 15 characters, including letters, numbers, and the following characters:! @ # $ % ^ & ( ) _ - ; : ' " ,. It cannot contain any spaces, and must start with a letter or a number. The NetBiosName class considers the majority of those special characters as invalid so the problem may occur if the workgroup name contains other characters besides the period. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, change the workgroup name to something that does not contain special characters. To do this, follow these steps. Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps. Note Follow these steps on all computers that are in your workgroup. 1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. 2. In the System Properties tab, click the Computer Name tab, and then click Change. 3. Under Member of, click Workgroup, and then type a name for your workgroup that does not contain any special characters. 4. Click OK, and then restart your computer.

SOURCE: Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008
If you have a legitimate legal licensed copy of Microsoft Streets & Trips, you can call Microsoft for free support. If you are receiving a message that it is not a valid license key, then you have likely purchased pirated software - Microsoft only distributes S&T via 1) boxed retail version, or 2) volume license. Since you paid only $40 for an $80 product, I suspect you got suckered. Call 1-800-R-U-LEGIT to contact MS about your problem....there have been reports of Microsoft providing free software to those that were suckered into purchasing pirated software (with the assumption that you will help them catch the person that sold it to you.).

Most devices last a long time. Have you tried re-installing the software for the keyboard & Mouse> Also go to microsoft download center and get the latest drivers for you setup. Make sure when you do, choose the right Operating System driver for your Keyboard & Mouse. Hope this helps. Bud

Hi, go to the "streets.exe" file in the program folder, right-click it and go to "Properties". Click the "Compatiblity" tab and uncheck "Run this program...". Try it now. It's what I had to do.

This is probably a way for the mouse to conserve battery power when it has been idle for a while. Is there any software that was installed for the mouse. If so check and see if there is any settings that would cause this like a sleep mode ect.
