My dvdrw is not burning my dvd it tells me it fail what can i do

perhaps the CD media you purchased is not compatible with your CDROM drive ..?

what is the model number oif the CDROM ? what computer model is used in ?

try a different brand/quality of dvdrw

do a system restore from the date when you remembered you're pc was not having that kind of problem. start menu >> all programs >> accessories >> system tools >> system restore.

Perhaps you should reinstall the Sonic stuff, in case it was affected since the virus cleanup.  If the OS had some of its components quarantined from virus contamination, you are probably stuck reinstalling the OS...though of course you can search the web (and not least Microsoft.com if that's the sort of OS you use) for healing 'media detection' issues (w.r.t. your particular OS.)

Hi, well ur DVD\CDRW drive is a combo drive. It can play CDs\DVDs but burns only CDs as it's NOT a DVDrw @ the same time. It won't burn a DVD.

.... In future I propose u either to replace the drive by a DVDRW or u may buy an external slim dvdrw if u want to keep ur existing drive as well. 2nd solution is best BTW.

what is on said DVD, it can name 100 different vast things,

why not start with the missing story
what is it you wish to make? tell the helper what you are trying to do, a goal, like make my TV SOny DVD player play movies, using DVD movie format. (or bogus copies)

a dvd with data. (like docx files, xls, or ppt files? or?)
a dvd with songs, MP3 or 30 other types.
A dvd with software programs. like a copy of windows 7 install?

I have the same problem. Has anyone found a solution? I have an HP Notebook dv6700 with a Pioneer DVDRW [DVR-K17B ATA Device]. For the past few months I haven't been able to burn anything to disc. I can't find any firmware updates online. I'm not sure if I need to buy a new drive?

first of all use dvdrw so can check and if fail can do again.
check software for type of media cd/dvd +/-
check all required codecs are installed.
check overburn boxed is checked
try nero 8.
I have nero 8 no faults ever,has much more apps,tv link ups even a chat line.

Please remember to always note Computer specifications and Operating system details when you post a problem and to explain your problem in more detail( Specify your CD-ROM / DVD Drive more)

If you cant burn DVDRW or CDRW it is likely that your Drive does not support burning these Formats. You can check on your drive at the front; it should tell you what it supports.

Another solution could be that you are not using the correct software to burn your DVDRW/CDRW. I recommend using: Nero
