let me tell you how you can get your xp to work. Get a win98 startup disk load it in your a:/ drive after it is loaded type fdisk to delete your old partition and make new one. Please tell me you know how to do this ! LOL after you delete the existing partition make a new one. turn off computer turn back on and format hard drive . After you format hard drive shut computer off and put the win98 startup disk in and start. After it loads click with cdrom support ok after it loads it will be at A:/ type in D:/dir ok what shows up should be your windows xp disk files if they don't type in E:/dir ok check see if these is windows files if they are at A:/ type in A:/ setup and xp will start loading.
See whats wrong is you just need to setup a new partition before you can setup the new operating system. It works
    God Bless Greg

I've recently bought a Toshiba laptop. Model C50D-A-13G. Previous owner has set up a BIOS password and forgot it (!!) My job now is to unlock it. BIOS doesn't generate any code after 3 wrong password...

Unless wiping the laptop clean of all info (refomatting) can reset to default settings, you pretty much stuck.

My question is, why would anyone have a need to set-up a password on the BIOS?

Your job is to not unlock it, but rather go back to the original owner and work with him to try and remember it. I'm sure that he has used only a handful of passwords over time, and one of them has to work. You trying to figure it out is like trying to figure out someone's debit card pin number, which would be a total waste of time. Sell it back to him, or take it to a PC technician and hope that they know some back door tips.

Be faster just replace the board but they are right there is no work around for a bios password. So if the laptop is legit and not stolen why cant you just ask the previous owner?

TC110 No video when there is a hard drive installed in the machin

what hdd,?
power pack weak? sounds like it or the wrong pack.
rated for 65watts , more .
that old? legacy stuff,
a 14 year old compaq. wow.
ill will quote the manual to you . now.
40.0 GB 40.0 GB 30.0 GB
4,200 rpm 5,400 RPM 4,200 rpm
those old drives are tiny and use little current
if your drives use huge currents and most do now.
then it will overload this tiny pathetic notebook.
you never said what HDD you inserted. full name or model.

if the bios i dead the with hdd inserted but not removed
its 1 of 3 things.
bad hdd. (or too big and motor sucks to much current.)
or bad motor regulators to hdd.
or bad power pack
3 things there
try a SSD yet, it uses almost no power.
by comparison.

Hi i m having Compaq TC1100 now there is error on starting that operating system not found how i do the things, this tc not having any optical drive

It's bloody hard. Take it to a PC repair shop. I've just done it with a TC1000 (previous model) and it takes a good 3 hours + some extra equipment/software.
