Question about Apple iPhone Smartphone

My i phone G 3 16 GB camera does not work at all

My camera opens the "lenses" but it is black. Also up-date to the newest software 2.2 does not help. Before, it also showed that no space is anym more and some pictures should be deleted. I did not have any photos in the camera. The camera was new. I really wonder about Apple. For this money, I would expect somehting what works, what has been tsted three times and where I have not to loose my time as to my students time at the beginning of the computer times.

It is a iphone G3. I do not know hoe to replace the battery in order to make the iphone camera working. Is there no other solution ?

  • ferdinand_ko Nov 24, 2008

It is not a "JAILBREAK'D" iphone because I bought it at an important European mobile provider. But I cannot bring it just back to the vendor because I am in a country outside Europe at the moment where no Apple vendor exists.

Thank you very much. Do you think that a hartware reset helps? Can something be damaged by doing it ? I do not want that then other functions don't work neither.

A hardware reset helps by sometimes removing any errors that might have arisen in the internal software of the unit which is the firmware although it is generally not recommended to do a hard reset it is most often beneficial if and when no other solution works thereby giving you only that avenue. A hard reset will most often delete any additional applications that you have added as well as any numbers messages and settings that you have added. Basically restore to factory defaults.

Hello Ferdinand,

You will have to contact apple and let them know your problem. Ifthey confirm there are no applea dealers in the conutry where you currently are, then you might send it to them and then they will send you one back at the adress you give them.

Currently, there have been various reports with Iphones cameras having a black screen at the camera application.

Good luck,

I was running iPhone firmware 1.1.4. I regularly sync the iPhone and noticed the camera stopped working when I upgraded from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4.
At first, I tried to “Restore” to my previous iPhone settings which means I would sync to the settings I had saved earlier in the day. I was dubious that this would work, but I went through with it and waited for the phone to re-copy all the settings including 7 gigabytes of music. As I suspected, it did not work.
My next option involved “Restore”-ing to my October 2007 settings and software. I wasn’t going to do that.. I might as well as “Restore” as a new phone which would have meant a lot of work to get my iPhone back to the state it’s currently in. Bookmarks, contacts, text conversations all would have been lost.

Unless u need to "RESET" your phone,

And still if it doesnt work, best option is "Service Centre"...............

"BELIEVE ME, MANY PPL ARE GOING THROUGH THE SAME ISSUE WITH IPHONE"....

Take Care.
Thnx.

To reset iphone.

To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

First of all, the battery is not user-replaceable, which means you will have to go to an Apple dealer to have your battery replaced. (See, you're not incapable-the phone is manufactured user-proof battery)
To use the camera, just aim and tap   My i phone G 3 16 GB camera does not work at all - s00_take_pic_button_icon.png
Note: Did you buy this new or refurbished, or used?  Also, did you confifure the phone from a previous version? If you did, it might have taken a lot of space (with emails and others). Other wise, just take it to an Apple Dealer, and they will either replace it for you, or fix it.
I hope this is more help. Apple is such a proprietary brand, that it is not as easily fixable as other pcs.

As the camera is integrated, you can't take it off for fix or replacement. You have to go for warranty / replacement.
There's no "magic button" for an iPhone.

    That info helped a lot.

Ok, you can try the "Apple" recommended reset maneuvers.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1737

    ===========================

iphone reset to default factory settings

    1. Turn off iPhone - Hold down the Sleep/Wake
button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the
red slider. Ignore this step if your iPhone is already off.

    2. Press and hold down the Home button for about 10 seconds until a yellow triangle with a text which says Please Connect to iTunes appears.

    3. Plug the iPhone into Mac or Windows PC. Release the button if you haven’t.

    4. Run and open iTunes if it’s not already opened yet.

i5. Tunes will prompt a message that says iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Click OK.

    6. You will be taken to the iPhone pane. Then, click on Restore.

    7.
Wait for the full restoration process to complete, and the iPhone will
be back to the original settings state as when it left the
manufacturing factory, typically a working phone again if you face any
    problem, unless it’s hardware related.

Hello,

Sounds like you have a faulty phone. If you just purchased this phone I would return it for a replacement. However, syncing it and doing the updates does not work so there is mostlikely an internal problem. Taking it to an Apple store and having them look at it is going to be your best solution.

What is the use of MF lenses

Many manual focus lenses date to before the development of autofocus technology. Unlike every other Japanese camera manufacturers, Nikon has not changed their lens mount since the beginning. 50-year-old lenses fit and work fine on the newest camera bodies (except that there is no autofocusing, of course).

Also, for some uses you don't want to rely on autofocusing.

I own a sony cybershot dsc w35 when i switch on the screen displays "turn the power off and on again" help?

Hi. I had exactly the same problem with my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W7. The problem started after while lense was fully open, the battery became 100% empty. I did not have access to new batteries and did not have my charger with me so I put the camera on my car seat and went home. After charging the batteries, I turned the camera Off and the lense retracted 100%. Later on I tried to transfer some pictures to my PC. After connecting the camera to my PC with the dial in the P position and lense fully open I turned the dial to play in order to transfer photos. After transferring the pictures, I turned the camera off and disconnected from the computer.

I turn the camera on to take new pictures next day, The lense would go up, and and turn with lense fully open. It would never close. The screen was black with a message "Turn the camera on and off again". I tried 30 times or more and the same thing would happen again.

Here is what I did to fix my camera and it has been working normally since then.

1- I cleaned around the outside of the lense with lent free cloth

2- I used dust OFF to get raid of the remaining small dust particles from around the lense.

3- While turning the camera off, I pushed (down, up and turn) the lense in (NOT TOO Hard) by my hand. If you push the lense too hard, you may damage the mechanicall moving parts of the lense.

4- After a few tries, the lense retracted 90% +. I then pushed the lense a little harder all the way in, the way it normall retracts. The lense cover also closed 100%.

5- I turned the Camera on and off a few times. It was opening and closing exactly the way it used to. My Cybershot has been working okay since then.

I read a lot and here is what cause my lense to malfunction.

While lense was fully open and battery died, some small particles got on the lense and prevented lense from fully opening or closing.

In summery: two things could have caused your camera lense to malfunction.

1- if you had dropped your camera hard, some mechanical parts may have got damaged or dislocated. In this case you have to open the lense and replace the damaged part, clean and put it back on the camera. This is too risky for most ordinary people. You would most likely make it WORST.

2- If you did not drop it, most likly, some how some small dust particles got on the outside of the lense and they prevent the lense or the lense cover from fully opening and closing. If this is your case, please follow exactly what I did and your camera would be back to normal.
