TOMTOM 910 will not turn on after charging

TOMTOM 910 looks like it is charging while in the charge cradle (green power light is on). But, it does not turn on when the power button is pressed. It is passed the 2 year warranty period. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Don Same problem, charged it last night ..this morning nothing. top left green light only comes on when you plug it in to the ac socket but will not turn on. about 2.5 yrs old, used under 30 times.

Hi,

Initially, have you tried pushing the button at the back to reset the device, near the dock connector. You would needs a very thin paperclip that should fit through the plastic hole to reach the button underbeneath.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

I was thinking that may be a loose contact.
The loss of the rubber grommet located at the back of the unit.
That causes the unit to lose contact wtih the charger.

Wil not turn on

Put the receiver in the charging cradle. Does the green charging light appear? If it does not, you might just have a defective cradle and hence a completely flat battery; try charging with the car charger and retry. If it doesn't charge with either charger, the power section of the TomTom is obviously gone.

Assuming you now have a charged TomTom, keep the power button pressed for five seconds. If it does not turn on, try resetting it by inserting a paper clip in the RESET hole hidden below the front cover.

If it still does not turn on, it's either a defective power button or a faulty mainboard, and I'm afraid you can't easily fix either; you'll have to send it to maintenance.

Let me know how it goes...

Hi my tomtom 910 go wont switch on ], but when useing the charger the little green light lights up and will stil not switch on ive tries the hard resetting and does not work

I've had a similar problem on 2 TomTom 910s.
First, try holding in the reset button while holding the power switch down for 5 seconds.

If that doesn't work, let it charge for 12 hours and while it's still charging, hold the power switch down for 5 seconds.

It worked for me on both

Good luck

TOMTOM 910 will not turn on after charging

According to Kevin A who says, and thanks by the way (There is a reset button on the back at the top of the unit. It should be on the right side as you turn the unit around. Insert a paperclip or pin into this hole, and the unit should reset) at it works 100% because I tried this morning after being quoted £55 to have my GO910 fixed and now it works after the price of a paper clip.
