You tried to print with blocnotes.

Besides the printer came with some software, this software came with an option to print a testpage.

Please explain first what and how you tried.

Is the printer new and never print before.

Is the installation done correctly.

Greetings

Pc to laptop

If you want to connect a pc (desktop?) to a laptop you need a network of some sort.
This can be via various methods.

1. USB cross connected Cable between the two machines.

2. Network connection via a hub, server or switch. Both sides have to have an IP address.

3. Over a wireless connection, as above the pc would be connected to the router and the pc laptop could log-in to the router with appropriate password to connect together using IP addresses.
4. Over the Internet if not in same room. (FTP protocol to send files between the two computers.).

My printer page says 'idle' and prints up only blank pages. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It still says 'idle.'

I'm not understanding your issue. Is it that it says "idle" or is it that it doesn't print in color...?

idle is usually a status that is displayed in the printer status icon in your "tray" bottom left hand side of windows. This means nothing is currently happening with your printer. So I'm not clear that this is a problem for you, please explain.

To better help you, what model is your printer? Are you connected to the printer wirelessly, via USB or via ethernet?

I should be able to help more with these details.

There are many good reasons for booting your computer from a USB drive.
For instance, if you want to try out another operating system without disturbing the main hard drive on your computer, then installing the new OS on an external drive is a great way to run the system through its paces and decide whether you like it.

This approach will offer you the flexibility of being able to run both operating systems on your computer.
However, before you can boot the new operating system from the USB drive, you will need to change the boot order for your computer in the system BIOS.

Connect the external USB drive or pen drive to the computer before you power it on.
Press the "Delete" key as the computer performs the "Power On Self Test" (POST) to enter the BIOS area of the computer firmware.
The POST performs a diagnostic of components on the motherboard and does a cursory check of the hard drive, memory and processor.
The POST only lasts a few seconds; therefore, press the "Delete" key quickly.

Enter the administrative BIOS password if prompted to do so.
Once you enter the correct password, you will see the main BIOS screen.
Use the right-arrow key to navigate to the "BOOT" menu option at the top of the screen, and press the "Enter" key.
Press the down-arrow key until the cursor is on the "Boot Device Priority" label. Hit "Enter," and press the down-arrow key again to highlight the "1st Boot Device" option.
Press the "+" or "-" keys to scroll through the available boot options until the "USB Drive" or "USB-HDD0" label is the highlighted option.
Press the "F10" key to save changes and exit the BIOS setup program.
When the computer restarts, wait for the "press any key to boot from external drive" prompt to display, and then press any key on the keyboard to boot from the USB drive.
Award or Phoenix BIOS
Connect the USB drive to the computer.
Wait for the POST to display on the screen, and press the "Delete" key to enter the BIOS.
Enter the BIOS password if prompted to do so.
Tap the right-arrow key until the cursor is over the "BOOT" menu option.
Press the "Enter" key.
Press the down-arrow key until the highlighted cursor is on the "Removable Devices" option. Press the "+" key until the "Removable Devices" label is on the top of the boot device list.
Press the "F10" key to save the changes for the boot order in the BIOS and to exit the utility.
After the computer restarts, press any key on the keyboard to boot from the USB drive when prompted to do so.
bootable USB guide, here we assume that you are using either Vista or Windows 7 to create a bootable USB.
1. Insert your USB (4GB+ preferable) stick to the system and backup all the data from the USB as we are going to format the USB to make it as bootable.
2. Open elevated Command Prompt. To do this, type in CMD in Start menu search field and hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter. Alternatively, navigate to Start > All programs >Accessories > right click on Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
3. When the Command Prompt opens, enter the following command:
DISKPART and hit enter.
LIST DISK and hit enter.
Once you enter the LIST DISK command, it will show the disk number of your USB drive. In the below image my USB drive disk no is Disk 1.

4. In this step you need to enter all the below commands one by one and hit enter. As these commands are self explanatory, you can easily guess what these commands do.
SELECT DISK 1 (Replace DISK 1 with your disk number)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT FS=NTFS
(Format process may take few seconds)
ASSIGN
EXIT
Don't close the command prompt as we need to execute one more command at the next step. Just minimize it.

5. Insert your Windows DVD in the optical drive and note down the drive letter of the optical drive and USB media. Here I use "D" as my optical (DVD) drive letter and "H" as my USB drive letter.
6. Go back to command prompt and execute the following commands:
D:CD BOOT and hit enter. Where "D" is your DVD drive letter.
CD BOOT and hit enter to see the below message.
BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 H:
(Where "H" is your USB drive letter)

7. Copy Windows DVD contents to USB.
You are done with your bootable USB. You can now use this bootable USB as bootable DVD on any computer that comes with USB boot feature (most of the current motherboards support this feature).
Note that this bootable USB guide will not work if you are trying to make a bootable USB on XP computer.

Samsung PC Suite - Internet through mobile modem -Error 619 - Data Cable

1. Samsung USB modem driver (Download from Samsung ' Local Link)

2. Connect Your Samsung with a working Internet connection ( via )USB Cable
3. Samsung PC Studio or any other Samsung mobile drivers are not installed

Procedure

1. Connect your Samsung Star 3G to your PC and install the modem drivers that you have downloaded.

3. Select the Modems tab. You will see Samsung mobile modem listed.

4. Select it and click on Properties.

5. Goto the Advanced tab and put the following in the box for Extra Initialization Commands:

+cgdcont=1,"IP","your_apn_name"

( or tye AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP', "apnname")

eg:- +cgdcont=1, "IP", "bsnlnet"

:

6. Hit OK and exit.

The next step is to create a dialler for your Samsung Star 3G mobile modem.

Error 619 solved

1. To create a dialler, Goto Control Panel>Network Connections

2. Hit Create a New Connection and proceed as follows (each sub-point is for each screen of the wizard):

2.1 Network Connection Type: Connect to the Internet
2.2 How do you want to connect to the Internet: Set up my connection manually
2.3 Select Connect using a dial-up modem
2.4 Select Modem-Samsung Mobile Modem
2.5 Type an ISP name according to your preference (could be anything)
2.6 Type*99# as the phone number ( or type *99*1*1# or *99***1# )

That would complete the wizard and make a dial-up connection for you. Dial it and you will be connected to the Internet via your Samsung Star 3G phone modem without using Samsung PC Studio

Printing Direct to CD using Roxio EMC10 and HP All in One C5280

Solved by trial and error.
I went through every type of paper and printer combination listed in the Printer Preferences and eventually found a system compatible with Roxio EMC 10.
This by setting "Commercial Paper" and Neato 3-Disc Paper.
Whilst this is probably the incorrect way to do it, it has solved the problem and I can now print directly onto CD via my HP C5280 All in One Printer.

Tip. If you set Print preview before printing you can determine what the finished article will look like without having to wast numerous Discs trying.

Sister has VISTA and HP 6100 series all in one printer with driver installed. When she prints it states ''offline'' and must install 2nd version off net called ''copy1'' to print...until next time.

First : when you install the driver with the cd that follows the printer you must not insert the usb to the printer at once, but wait to the cd ask you to put the device in(the usb)

Second : If you use a different USB port every time you use the printer it will try to install the software again.

Hope thats helps :O)

Passing PCL code from Word document

All PCL Command Sequences begin with the escape character (an ASCII control code with a hex value of 1Bh, 27 decimal) and end with the first upper case letter (or "=" note: "@" is considered an uppercase letter). In between there is either nothing (the PCL command is just the escape and a single upper case letter) or a set of one or two characters and often a numerical value. The single character commands are listed at the end of the "Decoded PCL commands" table below. The first non-uppercase character after the escape will be a symbol between "!" and "\" (most commonly one of %,&,( or *) which is called the "parameter." After the parameter there is normally a lower case letter called the "group." After this there may be a numeric value. If no value is present, the value is assumed to be zero. Finally the ending uppercase letter is called the "command." See Examples, Tutorials below for some samples of PCL commands and the Decoded commands List for detailed information. Note that these use the text "Ec" to mean the escape character. Since the escape character is not printable, it is very hard to convey in human readable text. Common abreviations are Esc, Ec, [], or <-. See the ASCII page for more information on the codes. That page also allows you to convert between hex, decimal or ASCII codes. The form below can be used to find english descriptions of PCL commands. Just paste the PCL into the box, if you use "Ec" or "esc" to mean the escape character, press the "Ec and esc

i hope this will work for you

All the Best.
