Make sure that all of the vents and fans are free from dust, and try again.

Advent 5712 fan

Clean the fan, vents, heatsink with a can of Compressed Air, you may have to open the Laptop to clean thoroughly. Improve air flow through the bottom and out the side vents, or your laptop's components will fail catastrophically, rendering your laptop useless. A Laptop Cooler is a option. Hopefully the Graphics Adapter and the CPU have not suffered terminal damage. The Thermal Paste may need replacing. There are sensors that, when overheating occurs, shut down the laptop to prevent a melt-down.

On my advent roma 2000 laptop, randomly the screen went black when i turn it on but it comes on at the start for 2 seconds then goes off..? what do i do

its overheating, check whether your fan is working, otherwise open it and clean it out, do not use a blower, the spinning fan can overcharge your motherboard and blow it

Try using your laptop on power supply (not on batteries).

Clean advent 5611 fan

Laptops are notorious for overheating. The fan and cooling vents also get clogged easily. Even a 'clean' place has some dust in the air, and it is attracted by the fan and static. Canned air will take care of some of it. Opening the laptop is complicated and not for the weak of heart. When the laptop is running, you'll feel air movement. spray through that vent with the laptop turned off.

Advent e100 noisy and overheating

Possible that the processor cooling fan located beneath the laptop is CLOGGED WITH DIRT/FIBRES and so fails to cool the processor.
It is best to remove the panel and clean the dirt, use pressurised air and brush.
This must solve the issue , if not there can be errors in the OS or the hardware as a corrupt OS might make the processor work with more power without idling.

Advent laptop overheating

Check the jack on the machine to see if it's loose or broken. Use a small screwdriver, and see if you can move it in any direction. If it is loose or broken, get it fixed imediately. A loose or broken jack can create an electrical arch which can do severe damage to the machine.
