Re: want to stop auto popup Programme
In yahoo messenger in the menu goto Messenger -> preferences and in general category disable "Start yahoo messenger automatically".... As for IE what does it show when it pops up.... coz i doesn't have autostart...does it goto a particular site... if so your site could have been affected by adware...

When you install Yahoo! Messenger on your computer, the program is adds itself to your computer's startup list. Each time you boot your computer, Yahoo! Messenger, and all other programs included in the list, starts automatically. Having too many programs on the list might reduce your computer's performance. To prevent Yahoo! Messenger from loading and popping up on your screen each time you boot your computer, you must remove it from the startup list. Yahoo! Messenger allows you to disable automatic startup through the program's preferences menu.
1.Open Yahoo! Messenger and log in your account.
2.Click the "Messenger" button at the top of the Yahoo! Messenger.
3.Click "Preferences" and the "Yahoo! Messenger Preferences" dialog box appears on your screen.
4.Click "General" and remove the checkmark from the box labeled "Automatically Start Yahoo! Messenger."
5.Click "Apply" and click "OK" to close the dialog box.
I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.
The problem is that the yahoo messenger is not started at startup. You can do the following.
1. Open yahoo messenger from start-> all programs -> yahoo messenger. 2. In the sign In page (initial page) check both the boxes "remember my id & password" and "Sign in automatically" 3. Type in user id and password and login 4. From "messenger" menu item click "preferences". A dialog box will popup. Click "general" in the left hand side. In the right hand side there will be a check box "Automatically start yahoo messenger" under "when I start up my computer". 5. Click ok.
I would go to my default settings for programs I do not know your computers operating system or what you are using for Windows but I will assume Win XP. You have to go and set this for opening chat room sessions. Their will be Messenger and Yahoo they are conflicting with each other. You can do this also by going and closing down the MSN that is popping up when you go to Yahoo Messenger go to options in the MSN and select do not login at startup automatically and do not start automatically when Windows starts up.
Also you can go to startup programs which are starting automatically. To do this go to START then GO TO SEARCH PROGRAMS or Win XP go to RUN then type in without the quotes, "MSCONFIG" then go to Startup Items look for anything like MSN or Messenger MSN anything like this then select stop do not delete it. Just close it from starting up automatically.
This should stop the program from connecting when you are wanting to use Yahoo Messenger for all your needs. Once you get to control panel click on default programs and then click on default programs again at the top of the menu and look for chat or MSN for Microsoft or Yahoo Messenger make this default to open when it starts.
I hope that this assisted you with this issue. Thanks for using Fixya! Please post a vote for me if I assisted you. John
Most messengers have an auto start function that is usually default set for opening on start up. You can disable this feature in the settings of yahoo messenger and then it wont run automatically when you start the computer. It's probably a virus, just a setting.
- go to
type msconfig and click on ok
-click on startup tab.
- you uncheck 'yahoo messenger' from the list and it will be ok.
- also uncheck 'login automatically' for yahoo messenger, it will help.
Use Startup Configuration Utility to make them startup again automatically by following the steps below:
1) Click on Start (lower left corner of your monitor screen)
2) Click RUN 3) Type msconfig > Click OK 4) Click on Startup Tab Check the Items on the list that reads with Yahoo Messenger and Messenger Live
Not sure what OS you are using...but if you are using XP you can go to "start" - "all programs" - "start up" and remove all the file from start up...
