Re: dont know how to change dvd with out useing skip...
Press the Display button located in the middle right of the remote. This brings up a menu on the tv that shows the dvd number. Press the right arrow button to get to the number. You can then enter the number of the dvd you want. After you have entered the number press the enter button. This will cause the desired dvd to load. You press the Display button again to tun off the menu.

If you are using the built-in DVD tray, press TV (in case you have a Cable Set-top box). Then press Input and navigate with the up/down keys to the line labeled DVD. Then press OK. Finally press play on the Polaroid TDA-03211C remote or on the side of the TV. The remote play button is in the center of the row below the row with skip reverse and skip forward buttons.
If you are using a different DVD player, press the input button and then the up/down arrows to get to the input for your DVD player. Then press the DVD button to control the DVD player.
If you are using a universal remote control, then you may need to program it to the TV and the DVD player separately. (Some universal remotes may only support the TV functions of this TV.) Make sure that your universal remote has an input button that works. You may need to try multiple codes for Polaroid TVs.
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (note: the DVD must be correctly installed so that the printed side (label) is facing the front of the TV. If you do not get a response, try the disc in another DVD player. The DVD player laser tracking can fail without warning. If the disc plays in other units, this may be the problem.)
If you are like me who used to have the satalite DVR you miss the skip forward function that some of the remotes have. With comcast or Xfinity remotes you can program them. Mine says Xfinity on the bottom and since I have no others to compare it to I cant say this will work on all remotes. Watch for the blinks as they will signify that everything is OK. If they dont give it a minute or two and then start over again pressing the buttons fully down. Since most of the button funtions are already taken, and at least on my NEW TV it didnt come with Picture In Picture funtion so these buttons are not being used by me. So lets use that last PIP minus button for this example. When you are done you can still reassign the Aux button back to say a DVD player or something, but only if it doesnt still work. This sequence just programs the remote PiP button. Press the Aux button one time Press and hold the Setup button until the Aux blinks 2 times after it does enter these numbers 01376, now the remote should blink 2 times again. press and hold Setup again until 2 blinks now press 994 and press the Aux button Press the Setup one time and now enter the numbers 00173 Press the Cable button Press the PIP Channel Minus at the bottom of the comcast remote and you will see the lights blink again at the top of the remote to signify 2 blinks that it is done.

You can probably use the front panel buttons (STOP PLAY OPEN/CLOSE etc) manually, the only thing you cannot do without the remote is access certain DVD menus, including subtitles/language/special features etc. You can always obtain and use a universal remote for basic menu functions later on if necessary.
To play a DVD movie without the remote, simply load your preferred disc, wait for the player to finish reading its contents, then to skip copyright warnings and/or the 'play movie' menu screen, press STOP, then PLAY, or simply press PLAY button where 'play movie' (or whatever function) is highlighted in the menu. These buttons should be on the front of the main unit. Doing this should encourage the player to detect the appropriate title (the movie) and play it (basic playback operation may not be possible with some DVD releases due to the numerous interactive menus and title pages, such as film trailers).
If basic manual operation is not completely possible with some DVD titles, consider a universal remote for your player if you have either lost your original, or the player was purchased/received without one. Such remotes are relatively inexpensive to purchase, and are available just about everywhere.
In order to play a bluray video disc without a remote, it must skip the menu and automatically play the video. The only way to accomplish this is to burn the disc this way, or it must come like this from the factory, and in most cases it doesn't.
The alternative is to press the play button on top of the disc player. Hope this helps!

Pan use a version of Linux on the recorder. If you change the hard drive there is a format command in setup to format a new hard drive. Put a DVD in and try selecting and playing both DVD and HHD via the front panel buttons.
Sometimes you can get error codes on a unit when the batteries in the remote are low. Try changing them
Sometimes the remotes are faulty and not communicating properly. A fix in some cases is to press the number button corresponding to the number shown on the display together with the enter or OK button for at least 2 seconds.
