Quite. If you have your BIOS and power settings to be jittery, your computer's hardly going to stay in the standby mode. You can't be moving the mouse or have the BIOS Wake-on-LAN ON. Similarly, wake-on-WiFi LAN needs to be off if you have that on your machine. Checked all that?

    Hello derhunter,

Can you expand on your issue? When will it not stay? What do you mean by stay?

My computor emachine win.vista i cant get juno.com to stay on my computor after installing it

Does Juno dissapear right after install? Or does it dissapear after reboot?

If it dissapears right after install, its propably because the user you're using doesn't have the proper permissions to install system critical software. If this is the case a prompt should appear informing you that you don't have the permissions to install this type of software, and that you need proper permissions.

If its deleted after reboot, it could be because your malware/virus scanner has flagged it as hostile. or that its not a vista compatible program.

Try contacting juno support
http://help.juno.com/support/email-us.html

and describe the problem to them.

Is my computer in standby mode?

Make sure you have the cable that plugs into the back of the computer from the monitor screwed in tight. Also make sure the cable on the back of the monitor is screwed in tight and also that the power cord on the back of the monitor is pushed in all the way.

I'm almost certain you're not in standby mode. Does the computer stay on when you get the no signal message? Do you hear the fan blowing, do you hear the disk drive spinning? If not, I think your system has completely shut down. I'm thinking maybe a virus or some hardware/software conflict is stopping it from completing the boot cycle.

Try getting into the Bios or System Setup to see if the LCD Stays on and the computer stays on. Turn the computer off, then hit the power button to turn it back on. Look at the lcd screen and it will tell you what key to hit to go into the Bios or System Setup. Go into it and let the computer sit for 10 minutes or so to see if it shuts itself off.

If you are successful with the computer staying in the Bios or System Setup lets try getting into Safe Mode and see what happens. Turn the computer off and hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the SAFE MODE option. Select the Safe Mode option and let the system boot up. Safe mode will look different to you. The icons will be bigger and the lcd screen darker, but that's normal. If you are able to see the desktop in safe mode just try opening up MS Word and maybe let it sit for a few minutes to see if it shuts off.

If safe mode was successful, then try booting it normally. If it fails, we know we've got an issue.

My CQ2009F with 1GB of ram running windows XP(x86) will stay in hibernate or standby mode. It will start to go into the mode but only stays in the mode for about half a second and then brings me to the...

Sounds like you have errors on some files and it is not happy to continue.
Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive errors and attempt to repair them. There may be a registry error if you haven't run any utilities to clear them like Norton Utilities or PC-Tools.
Hope that sorts it out for you.

When i shut down my pc it shuts down, but the psu stays on, i can turn it off by the button but not by the desktop, any ideas???

Hi, "Sleep" mode or "standby" mode allows your computer to go on standby or sleep until you "wake" it up again. This is a power saving feature which is usually used for a few hours. You can change it to completely shut down everything (including power supply) in power supply options in your control panel. Check out your help section for sleep or standby options. Hank

Comuter will not stay in standby mode.

So why do you need the computer in stand-by mode anyway? My computers are either on or off. Off saves power and hardware.
