Hello caliandrew88,
Having a full D Drive will not cause Vista to crash. If you need to free up space then get an external hard drive to move files off of your machine.

How can I get the pictures back, after I've deleted them and emptied the waste bin?

If you have emptied the trash your only hope is to use Recovery software such as Wondershare, or Data Rescue. These are third party programs designed for data recovery in your situation.

How to transfer deleted data to recycle bin on my Dell Inspiron1501 notebook with Vista?

Deleted date would already be in your recycle bin.

To move files into your recycle bin, drag and drop the file on top of the recycle bin icon.

My dell vostro laptop is showing that the storage space on my harddrive is almost full. How do i delete some of the memory?do i have to buy something special in order to do it?

Hi.

Basically all you have to do is go to the storage drive, have a look through it, decide what you don't want and drag the ones you don't want to the recycle bin, that will clear space for you. Also empty the recycle by right clicking on it then select empty recycle bin.

Regards.

How to speed up pc applications

If it's almost full and you've been moving stuff to an external, sounds like you really need a bigger hard drive.

You've only got three options:
1) Buy a bigger hard drive
2) Move stuff to the external then delete it off the laptop
3) Delete things off the laptop such as programs you don't use and files .
Make sure you empty your recycle bin, it can hold a lot of junk

Slow, stalls, freezes up

If your hard drive is too full, then your computer is going to perform slower. Delete old files which are not required.

Remove programs that you are no longer using. Delete temporary files.

Empty your recycle bin. Right click on Recycle Bin. Click Empty Recycle Bin>Yes.

Run an error check on your computer. The error check can remove errors that slow down your computer. If you are using Windows, you can do this by clicking Start>My Computer. Right click on your hard drive (typically c:) and then select Properties. Click the Tools tab>Check Now and then Start.

Clean up your registry. You can purchase software that will fix any registry errors on your computer.

Perform this computer maintenance on a weekly basis.

Ever thing you want to store is being save to drive D. Drive D is full. How do I get it to put file storage back to drive C? Can drive D be filtered, so as to put regular files back to drive C and keep all...

You can transfer anything that is NOT a program. OR used by a program. Otherwise yes you can transfer the stuff from D to C no problems, also run disk cleanup and defragment to get more space back, empty recycle bin etc too. remove all files from TEMP, TMP dir's Compress the drive to save space.

Deleted stuff from recycle bin

Unfortunately no, once the recycle bin is deleted, it removes the files entirely. If the files are very important to you, there's a small chance that they could still be retrieved, but you would have to seek assistance from a Data Recovery service specialist in your area. There are some programs out there that you could purchase as well, that may be able to recover deleted files as well, and would be much cheaper than a data recovery service would, but there's also no guarantee through either of those methods if the results would be successful. My only suggestion at this point, if you want to increase the chances of the data being recovered, is to try and keep your computer as unused as possible, don't add or remove files, don't put stuff in the recycle bin. The reason I say this, is that files, even after their deleted, may leave remnant information behind on the hard drive platters themselves, and if you overwrite those specific sectors with more information, the leftovers usually get written over as well, thus being lost for good. Hope this helps!

Windows Vista Ultimate: Recycle Bin

If you find that when your Recycle Bin does not refresh but shows the same icon, irrespective of whether it is empty or full, here are some trouble-shooting steps you can try. Hopefully, one of these 5, should help you. 1) Check if you have installed any Theme or an Icon Package, and see if uninstalling it makes the problem go away. if so then the problem is in the Theme or Package. Also try switching the theme to Windows Classic theme and them back to Vista Aero default. 2) Right-click Desktop > Personalize > Change desktop icons > Disable / Uncheck Recycle Bin. Then click Restore Defaults. Click OK. Reboot. Now using the same method Enable /Check Recycle Bin, then restore defaults. Click OK. Refresh Desktop. 3) In the 'Desktop Icons settings' Dialog Box, check on Recycle Bin.
Then click on the ‘Recycle Bin Empty’ icon.
Click on 'Change Icon' tab.
rom the new box which opens, select the icon that shows the 'Recycle Bin Full'.
Do the same for 'Recycle Bin Full' icon.
Change it to 'Recycle Bin Empty' icon.
Now click Apply.
Now check whether, when the Recycle Bin is full, the empty-icon show. And vice versa.
If it does, go back and again change back the icons, to what they should be, using the same procedure, mentioned above. 4) Use the Group Policy Object Editor.
Type gpedit.msc in Vista's Start Menu Search bar and hit enter.
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Desktop > Remove Recycle Bin icon from desktop > Double click on it > Enable > Apply Reboot.
Next, follow the same above-mentioned steps. But this time instead of 'Enable' select 'Not Configured.
See if it helps. 5) Repair or Re-build the Icon Cache. For this the easiest way would be to download and use TuneUp Utilities or Stardocks Icon Packager. They are not freeware, but you can use the trial versions to get your job done.
