Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

On/off switch broken and programme faulty

The on/off switch does not work and we have to switch it on and off directly from the mains plug, but this causes the central fuse in the house to trip.
Also, the programme stops at the pre-wash, and we have to turn the dial on to the next cycle for it to continue.
Please could you advise what the solution would be, and what parts we would need for replacement.

Hotpoint ultima error message f08 what does it mean?

F08 actually means the heater relay cannot be activated.
A few reasons for this, faulty heater, broken wire, faulty pressure switch or faulty main control board (the heater relay is on the main control board).
There is no reset for this.
Unplug the appliance and take the rear cover off.
Check the wiring to the heater and thermostat, give the wires a good tug as they can break internally and look ok.
If you have a multimeter, test the heater, it should read around 25 ohms.
Take the top off the appliance, locate the pressure switch (has a thin tube on it), give it a few good taps with your screwdriver handle.
Finally, take the main control board out (bottom left when viewed from the rear) and one plug at a time, take them off, clean and tighten them, plug them back on.
If everything checks out ok, then it's likely the main control board is at fault.

IT WONT START

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all check the lid whether it is completely closed. Now open the lid and check the lid switch and the tab on the lid. Press and release the switch: if it doesn't click when you do this, it's probably broken. Also check to see that the power cord and plug are fine and the unit is getting power. If necessary, replace the cord. You can use a working lamp, appliance, or voltage tester. If it is the case then the overload protector might have tripped and you need to follow these steps---

Switch it off. Unplug the unit from the main power board and re plug it after five minutes.
Take out some of the articles to reduce the load and let the protector reset itself and then restart.

If the problem persists, then check whether the programmer/timer is linked properly to the control board. This may have an intermittent fault or may be getting damp. Check the switch contacts with a meter. If the receptacle seems dead, check the circuit breaker or fuse that serves it. Also check there isn't a blockage in the 'spigot' that joins the hose to the drum.

If you're experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed. If the washer still doesn't work, the controls are faulty.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Error F07 is indicating that the heater relay is stuck contacts could be welded together, or sticking.
Hotpoint recommend a service call be made.
If it is under 5 years old , then it should be covered by parts guarantee.

Washer wont work

Does the programmer move or make noises?

It could be one of four things
Faulty programmer (if it does not move or make noises)
Faulty Door lock, (try pushing the door firmly in)
The belt may be broken - If the belt is broken or come off of the wheel then you will be able to see this by removing the top. (always make sure that you remove the electrical plug before investigating)
The brushes on the motor could be worn down

INDESIT WD10 WASHER N DRYER WATER WONT EMPTY PLZ HELP

I had exactly the same problem, found the answer on another website. The filter had a small sock stuck in it, stoppin the ppump from turning and draining the water out. Lever off the front panel right at the bottom of the washine machine, then unscrew the round black plug, lots of water will come out. Pull out the black thing and stick you fingers inside and pull out watever is blocking the pump. Turn off the electrics first. Mine now works fine again. :)
