I have a fairly new HP Pavilion DV6000 that is causing me some troubles. It often blacks out completely. This happens especially after my son plays games on the internet (Runescape-Moparscape). What annoys me in addition is that when I use Windows mail, the contents of the email are sometimes omitted, and I need to restart the PC. And using Microsoft Words is impossible now, the distance between the letters come out wrong.
I have Norton Anti Virus (which never actually detects anything).
This really handicaps me in my work, and telling the kid to stop playing isn`t an option either...

Most common cause for this happening is the inverter or backlight for your LCD screen has become faulty. It's quite a common problem & unfortunately the only way to fix it (if its outside of warranty) is to replace the LCD with an LCD kit which can be ordered through HP or sometimes through eBay.
Obviously if it's still within it's warranty perioud, contact HP Customer Support for a replacement/repair.
Thats the first problem of that model. They first dont want to go out of hybernate mode after that the wifi will not work and after that the video of that computer will be dead.I had like 30 HP Pavilion dv6000 and i just hey them nov but i can repair them.!!!
There are lots of things that can cause this it is a very common problem on these laptops it could be something as simple as the lid has to be open as wide as you can to get it to start or it could be a faulty graphics card which hp do know about they recalled a lot of these laptops because of this issue,as I said there are too many causes to go through here so if you google pavilion dv6000 lights are on but screen stays black then powers off you will see what i mean, have a look through the various websites that come up and try out the many suggestions on there,Im afraid its hard to diagnose something without having it in front of me so the best thing i can do is tell you where to find the most useful information so you can help yourself.Make sure you try the lid suggestion first because that is the most common reason for this.I think Hp still repair these issues free of charge if you look through the sites you find there is a link in there somewhere to the hp recall centre.Hope you get this sorted and good luck, just sorry its not a sure fix for you.
