Xbox360 Powers on on video but audio, No red rings !
Hi Looking for a fix on my older 360, it powers on with no videoout but audio. I have tried a new av cable and a Hd cable via myjoytech switch. I have had the 360 direct to tv but its still the same. It does not display any red ring and powers up like my other 360 !!! This 360 has no hdmi output on the rear, just to give you some sort of idea how old it is. It must be out of warranty so not bothered, i will try anything. Unmodded unit Hitachi dvd.
It spins games up and sounds like its playing them 2.

Re: xbox360 Powers on on video but audio, No red rings !
You have to do that Red Ring Fix. That will fix it. I see those come through the store a lot. The only problem with that is the red ring fix will only fix it temporarily. You might want to start saving up for a new one. Preferably a Falcon board.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

it is most likely your AV. Unplug power to power supply and Xbox and un plug AV cord. Let it sit for 15 Minutes and the plug everything back up and see if that corrects the problem if that doesnt repair problem google xbox360RROD... or search what do the red lights on Xbox 360 mean. Keep searching you will find what you are looking for eventually.
It may be your video output i.e. your TV. Check your console on another TV or projector. It shouldn't be your console's AV cable output if the audio works. (both audio and video come from that cable) I'm not completely certain you can solve it if it's your console, unless you send it in or pop up the case and mess with it (which is inadvisable). Give Xbox a call and they'll help you troubleshoot it- 1-800-4MYXBOX. If your still within your warranty years, and it needs to be sent in, you shouldn't be charged. Good Luck!
the G.P.U has more than likely detached from the main board.
the x clamp mod is more of a diagnostic procedures than an actual repair function. The G.P.U will need to be re-flowed to
the main board then lightly but firmly clamp to the board
then stress tested (force it to run hot for 15 min shut off and
repeat 3 times)
your 360 is a first run off assembly. they were junk from the start. my warranty expired also but called microsoft and they said if the ring of death is related to the first run of 360s they willextend the warranty. exactly what happened to me. 8 days later they sent me a brand new 360 cause problems with the first run 360s can't be properly fixed. contact them tell them the problem and you will get a new one. hope this helps Tadster
Sounds like there is something wrong with the Xbox 360 power supply,
try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console and unplug
the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power
supply from the power cord. Give it a minute then reconnect it all
back, also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at
If it's still red that suggests fault with your
Xbox 360 power supply so will need to contact Xbox 360 customer support if its under warranty they should be able to sort it out for you. If out of warranty it might cost you for a new power supply!
Red ring is not the only problem with Microsoft Xbox 360. This amazing
device also has some more common problems like Audio but no video
problem, disc read error etc. Microsoft is providing extended warranty
only for red ring problem. Means you will have to spend some money to
get this problem repaired also if you plan to send your xbox to
Microsoft, you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get back your
favourite Xbox. There is one more option in the form of DIY guide, this guide explains solving No Video problem with step by step instruction, so any novice can fix this problem
Are all four quadrants blinking red around the power button? This indicates that your Audio/Video cable is not plugged into the 360. Unplug it and plug it back in, or make sure it is securely plugged in.
Any other problems, contact Microsoft and 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and they will promptly fix it if it is still under warranty.
4 red lights is not necessarily a hardware failure or ring of death. The cause is usually from AV cable not being detected or not connected correctly.
The Eraser trick is good for Error 0102 make sure which error number you have!
1. Try to connect and disconnect the cable and see if it makes any changes on the red lights status. Note that not inserting the AV fully will cause the 4 lights error to appear.
2. Make sure the AV Cable and the connector in the Xbox console are proper and there is nothing banded or twisted.
3. Try to connect it to a different monitor maybe this is where the problem is.
4. Find the metal area where it plugs into the console this is called the AV Pack metal area. Use a dry, lint-free cloth and wipe it. Then try to plug the AV again.
* If you still can't make it to work and you have your warranty just send it in. If you don't have warranty I suggest trying the live chat support on Fixya!
