Question about Toshiba RS-TX60 DVD Recorder

Toshiba rs-tx60 stopped updating guide

I've gone through all the troubleshooting associated with the phone connection. Could the modem have gone bad even though it tests OK? It shares the line with my DSL and I have a filter before the TiVo. Before this happened I thought the HDD went bad because playing back it would freeze, restart, and hang. But now that has gone away and it has stopped updating the guide ("no info").

Toy Story 3 will not play on my Blue Ray player all other blue ray disk's work fine.

Have you updated your Blu-Ray player recently? All BD players need to be updated from time to time because of the growing technology of Blu-Ray. Its always been a con of BD players. Best thing to do is have your player connect to the internet.
I hope this is the back of your player. Connect your Cat5 (Ethernet cable) to your BD player and than to your router or modem. The port should look like this on the back of your player.

Once you have this connected start your player and it will have a option in the menu to update. Once the update is complete Toy Story 3 and all new BD discs should work. If not, its possible that the disc is bad. More often you just need to update the player.

I have a Toshiba RS-TX20 TiVo that suddenly stopped reading and writing DVDs or CDs.

you can solve this by opening the back cover of the DVD player.
first clean the lens with a dry cotton bud to clean the lens , you have to do this with care because the lens is fragile.
secondly, power on the player and check if the lens beam up a red light, if it does not the problem could be from the ribbon cable use to connect the lens to the printed circuit board or the lens may be faulty, replace to confirm the faulty one.
take care...

I do not have a phone line to do guided setup. I would like to use a wireless adapter with my home network router but have been unable to buy a compatible one from the list locally. Is the list...

You can do the guided setup without a phone line up to the point where it attempts to connect to the network using the wireless adapter. If it successfully connects, then you can continue the guided setup. If it does not successfully connect, then you're stuck until you can. In other words, you don't need the phone line as long as you have a wireless adapter and that adapter can successfully connect to your network and the internet.

I believe that, with the exception of some dicey hacks, you're stuck using the Tivo wireless adapter. The Tivo Community Forum website is a good place to ask questions like this. The site is independent of Tivo, inc. and has a lot of great information.

Hope this helps.

TV Guide will not update

The problem is not with your machine. TVGOS information is embeded in part of the a PBS analog signal. With the covnversion to digital, some PBS stations are not sending this data out anymore. Also, some cable companies are not converting the digital signals to be sent out on the old 125 analog channels.

If you try to chase this down with the Cable Companies or PBS techs, you will get; blank stares, help desk happy voices, it's not our problem, we don't support TVGOS, etc.

Personally, I think that the digital transition has killed TVGOS. It ain't comin bak, no more, no more.

Start looking for a replacement DVR that is easy to program.

No, wait, try to find one! Blue Ray along with Cable Company & Dish Network, etc. DVR's have killed the market for a stand-alone DVR's.

But there s always TIVO $$$

LRM519, worst piece of **** ever made?

Mine was a GIFT so it cost me NOTHING and it is MARCH 2 2009 it is working JUST FINE! I have it hooked to cable can record digital stations without problems. I have also NEVER had to pay a subscription fee and can stream things back and forth from my networked computers. I have a Toshiba RS TX20 TVo unit as well and it is very difficult to control sometimes with NO STREAMING since I dont pay a fee. So Thanks but I disagree with your assessment.
