Setting up Email Preferences for My Mail List and Postage Saver

I am trying to use the software for the first time after recently installing it. I read the manual and followed the instructions on how to set up your preferences for email. I am trying to use my gmail (email) account for my email campaign. However, I keep getting the following error message when I send the test email:

Based upon the Login, Password, and Server Address you have provided, no loggin Method could be found to connect to your outgoing SMTP server. Please check all your settings, consult your service provider, and/or try again.

I have verified that gmails smtp server settings should be: smtp.gmail.com and the pop3 server settings should be: pop.gmail.com. I have check and rechecked me username and password, however I still get the same error when attempting to send the test email

I'm having the same problem. I've tried both a gmail account, with all of the correct account settings and SMTP setting, along with an account provided by my hosting company, both with no luck..

Trying to set up outlook on yahoo at&t

One issue you may have is outgoing mail. Some ISPs insist that all outgoing mail goes through there servers, to protect against imposed spam fines... Sometimes you have to send through another port, gmail does that....Then ISPs usually let that go...Much better setting for mobile user...

Below is what you need to do:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/mailplus/pop/pop-36.html

Here's how:
  1. Go to Tools and Account Settings - below the E-mail tab click New
  2. Choose E-mail Service. Click on the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP radio button
  3. Click the manually configure server settings or additional server types check box. This will automatically enter in all of the required fields
  4. Click next
  5. Click on the Internet E-mail bubble. Click next
  6. Enter the following information:

Your Name: Display Name you want to use, for example, Jo Bloggs
Email address: Full email address, for example, jo.bloggs@yahoo.com
Incoming Server: Contact your ISP or Hosting Company for this setting. (See note below if your mail provider is Yahoo!)
Outgoing Mail server: Contact your ISP or Hosting Company for this setting. (See note below if your mail provider is Yahoo!)
User name: The first portion of your email address, for example, jo.bloggs@domain.com
    Password: Your email account password

Note: If your mail provider is either yahoo.com, rocketmail.com, or ymail.com then the incoming and outgoing settings are as follows:
  • Incoming Mail Server pop.mail.yahoo.com
  • Outgoing Mail Server smtp.mail.yahoo.com
If your mail server requires SMTP Authentication, follow these steps. If you are not sure if your mail server requires SMTP Authentication, please contact your hosting company or ISP:
  1. Click on More Settings
  2. Navigate to the Outgoing Server tab
  3. Check My Outgoing Server requires SMTP Authentication
  4. Click OK
  5. Click on Next
  6. Click on Finish

553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts

ok, this normally happens when the email receiver doesn't exist, however with my past experience with MS Outlook - it doesn't work unless it's set up correctly and specifically - and it's VERY difficult to do just right. I would suggest going with regular Hotmail and AOL accounts, they're free and there's no setup process apart from filling in the form to apply for the account.

553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)

This is not an outlook issue. This error is generated by the recipient's mail server basically saying that your domain/server isn't in their DNS list, so they don't trust your mail yet.

If you've only recently set up your email system make sure that the DNS records are all in place for your email domain - most notably your MX record (should also consider SPF record.)

If you've recently set up the DNS records, then try giving them some more time to populate on the internet.

It could be the e-mail server settings are set up incorrectly. Are you able to receive e-mail though your normal e-mail program?

If it is working is your computer behind a firewall?
