    Hello ecurbshe,

Can you give more detailed information on exactly how you are connecting the external monitor? Do you have a dual vga card?

A few things to go through to attempt a signal--

1) when you connect the video cable are you hitting the Function (Fn) and F-key that corresponds to the video switch (Usually Fn key next to the Alt and Shift keys... and the F5 key at the top of your keyboard)

2) right-click anywhere on your desktop and select Properties. This should bring you to the display properties. go to the 'Settings' tab and see if it shows a second screen and attempt to activate it.

3) if that doesn't work your computer may require that you have the video cable plugged in before you turn it on. plug in the video cable and restart your computer.

Acer aspire 1 display not showing when external monitor hooked up. Starts and then says no signal

You may have to activate the external display port. On some laptops they use on of the Fn key combinations (look for the blue icons on the F1-F12 keys) Find one that looks like a monitor screen. Press and hold the Fn button and then press the blue icon key and see what happens. If something undesirable occurs, press the same key combination a second time to return to previous state.

Acer ASpire M1100 shows No Signal on monitor

Any time a monitor says "no signal" that message is originating from the monitor itself, and not from the computer. A monitor in a room by itself with no computer will say "no signal" for a brief time, if it is turned on. So, if you have tried other monitors also with no luck, then the problem is either the video adapter of the computer, or something that is keeping the computer from booting in the first place (power supply, hard drive, memory, motherboard). A power supply can be tested with an inexpensive tool. Everything else needs either a swap out with a known good stand-in, or else an expensive tool to know if it works.Does the fan come on when you turn the computer on? If so, maybe more likely to be the motherboard, hard disk, or memory. If not, more likely to be the power supply.

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and I expect you will find it is displaying OK on the external screen.
Browse ebay for a replacement screen.

When i turn on my acer aspire it will not come on. The lights all come on but the computer itself will not come on. I have already tried the battery and charger. What's next?

It could be a issue with the display... If you have a external monitor try to connect the external monitor and check if the display is working fine in the external monitor.. If it works well you need to replace the LCD screen.. If its not working or you dont have a monitor it could be a hardware issue call up the computer manufacturer or get in touch with a local tech...

I have acer aspire series computer for 2 years.one day when i open my computer my monitor display no signal what are the reasons

Hi! it means that the monitor is not picking any signal from the tower or computer.Check all physical cables first esp the video cable from the monitor to the tower.Check if the computer has power by checking lights, sound coming of the machine. Check if monitor cable is securely plugged in to the vga or hdmi port.If you are using a adapter for that cable try to directly plugin the cable without using the adapter. If still no signal, check if you have a external video card or internal.if you have a external video card and thats the one that youre using then remove the external video card(you need to open up the tower and physically remove the external video card) and connect the video cable to the onboard card then check if will get a signal.hope this helps...

Acer monitor wont exit power save mode. Ive tryed 2 different monitors. 1 the acer the other a dell and didnt work on both, but the dell works fine as long as its not that pc. I removed the motherboard...

Assuming that it is an "external" monitor, and not the built-in LCD screen in your notebook, you have to tell your computer which option you want:
* output only to internal screen
* output only to external monitor
* output to both internal & external.

Look for a BLUE-coloured 'FN' key on your keyboard, and a button that cycles through the above 3 settings. Push that button while HOLDING the 'FN' key down.

If your computer is set to "internal-only", then the external monitor will _stay_ in "power-save" mode, although the monitor will work fine if connected to some other "desktop" computer.

When I press power button, only power button is lit green solid and nothing else happens...nothing on the screen...all black. No sound codes. Tried external monitor...nothing. CPU fan keeps running....

yes its motherboard. GPU has failed. Most likely you'll need to get your motherboard Reballed or Reflowed. I have found some reasonable business partners that do this service through ebay. usually runs 80-140 to get fixed. good luck!

Monitor not working

On the laptop, you'll need to change the video mode so that the laptop knows to send the signal out the VGA port. The two common ways of doing this are to find the Function key and the monitor toggle button. It's usually one of the F-Keys at the top of the keyboard in combination with the Fn key at the bottom. Hold the Fn Key and press the toggle key a time or two with the external monitor connected. If this doesn't work, or you can't find the keys, leave the monitor connected and reboot the laptop. When the laptop boots up, the OS should detect the external monitor and automatically turn it on when the OS boots.
