CD tray won't open it tries but stays shut - Computers & Internet

No, a disk is not 'probably' stuck in there. Anyone know the real answer? BTW, I already frequently open it using a pin because I need the CD drive for daily use. Now I'm trying to figure out how to make it open when I push the eject button. Again, I'm in there everyday, putting disks in and taking them out (using my trusty paper-clip). But when I push the eject button, it "tries" to open (i.e. noise is heard, door moves a micro-inch... but that's all-- nothing more). The eject button does work perfectly to close the tray. Anyone...? Anyone...?

Read. The. Fine. Manufacturer's. Manuals.
A disc is probably up on an edge and jamming it. Use a pin in the emergency release and another at the top of the door to scoot the disc down into the tray.

Cd won t eject

Go to start in the bottom left hand corner and then click on computer. A box will open, in that box you should see your cd drive listed. Double click on it and it should open up the tray.

Dell cd drive door won't open

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

Take a large paper clip and open it.....there is a small hole below the tray usually on the right side. Push the end of the clip to manually open the drive.

Disc drive won't open

CD/DVD drive?

Some have a tiny hole, right under the tray that comes out. Use a paperclip in the hole to manually open the tray.

(Some desktop computer towers have a door in front, that needs to be eased open first, then access to the actual CD/DVD drive unit can be obtained)

Cd draw opens on power up and won't play a cd keeps opening after closing

This unit needs replaced it has seen better days sorry. The only thing you can try is shut off all power to the PC then unplug the PC and that cd drive from the rear of it. let the PC boot all the way up so you see your desk top. Shut it all the way down un plug PC hook back up the wires on the back of the CD player let it boot back up see if this stops it.Remember to rate my solution this is how i earn my achievements also testimonial Thanks much in advance.

CD DOOR WON'T OPEN

Just below the CD/DVD tray there is a tiny hole. Insert a straighten paper clip in this hole and gently push the paper clip until the CD/DVD tray pops out. You can now pull the tray out until it is in the fully opened position to remove the disc.
Try pushing the eject button to see if the tray closes, then push the eject button to see if the tray opens.
If this foes not work then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

Dear sir i have a compaq prsario desk top having vertival mounted cd drive. i tried to load small cd on this but it got stuck and cd drive is partially opening and the cd is not coming out. wat am i todo?

place the computer in a position in which the tray will be horizontal ..after that take a look near the tray it is a hole in which a sharp object inserted will open the tray manually ..in case it is not opening from the eject ...and remove the disk ..
if the disk will not remove ...turn the computer upside down but the tray to be in same horizontal position ..This happens cause the disk is not staying in place .....and the tray being in horizontal position and upside down..the disk will come out when the tray is opened

Cant load cd into cd drive

Sounds like the tray is not comming out completly. Before you eject the tray you should notice a very small hole. take a paper clip and straighten it out and push in this hole. The tray will/should start to come out push the paperclip in as far as you can and check to see if this will allow the cd to stay on the tray.

The door will not open and eject the cd. the amber light stays on all the time

Hi,
Try going to "my computer" and right click on the icon that shows your cd drive. Then select eject to see if the cd will eject.

If it does not, then shut down your computer. Look for a small pin hole below your cd tray. Unbend a paper clip and insert it into the hole and press. The cd tray should pop open so you can remove that cd.

If the problem continues then it's time for a new cd drive.
