What operating system and type of computer are you trying to find a scheme for? if the operating system is windows there are some pre-made schemes you can use or modify to fit your needs under screen saver: monitor power: then click the "power" button then in power schemes select the power scheme that best suits your needs or modify one of the existing scemes.

I restored my Dell and when I did I lost the ablity to put it in sleep mode of have it power down without shutting it off. What do I need to do to get this feature back? P.S. I lost the restore factory...

For that you need to set some settings in control panel.
Go to start menu->control panel->power options .
Then in "Power schemes" set turn off monitor time as you like.
Also click on 3 rd tab "Hibernate" and enable it.
So when it hibernate it comes on previous state from where it shut down.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Trying to find wich two or more wires from wiring harness turn on power supply for a compaq presario 7594

In ATX PC power supplies, here is the wiring scheme:

Green: PS-ON (+5V)
Gray: PWR OK (+5V)
Purple: +5VSB
Blue: -12V
White: -5V
Orange: +3.3V
Red: +5V
Yellow: +12V
Black: Ground (AKA Common)

Use a paper clip to connect the GREEN wire and a BLACK wire. There should be a black one right next to the green. This is how I test PSUs before and after I repair them. Now it should be running, assuming there are no internal problems.

You can also connect the GRAY to ground with an LED. Not necessary, but I like to do it ;)

Screen keeps going blank

First thing to do is always check the cable. Make sure it push in all the way. If needed to screw it down. Could also be stand by time out. were the monitor is on a power saving mode. It will go black after 20 minutes or so. If this system stays on all of the time, change the power schemes to "Always On", just make sure you set the monitor and system or hard drive are set to "Never"

Check your power option in the control panel. Look for tab mark "Power Schemes"

Below are pull down menus to change the timeout setting for hard drive, monitor and system.
