Question about Creative Labs Zen Digital Media Player

My Zen 8Gb doesn't come on

I turned it off yesterday after listening to some music and when I tried to turn it on again a few hours later it didn`t respond. Between the two situations it didn't happen anything strange.
I thought at first that it was a battery issue (that I hadn't turned it off in the first place) but I connect it to my pc and the blue light or the battery symbol don't appear.
Seems it`s completely dead.

Somebody help me, please?

I've been reading and I've come to the conclusion that it's an usual problem, I'm afraid. And not only a Zen 4/8/16 Gb, but the entire Zen catalogue. So if anyone with the same problem, no matter what Zen model you have, can help us... it'd be great! Please!!

I'm starting to think I made a mistake not buying an iPod.........

Hey.....i had the same problem too.....but all u need to do is take a straigtened paper clip pin and press in the reset point inside for 5 sec and release and then switch off and switch it on it should work...inacse it does not repeat the same by piercing the pin for more than 5 secs and wait until the screen flashes...hope this helps.

I'll begin by saying that this is an 8GB Creative Zen MX, and NOT a 16GB, but I believe the solution may be the same. My zen will not turn on, or connect to my computer. This happened just yesterday...

Hi.
just pressing the reset button is not enough.

Try this:

1. To reset the player, gently insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.

2. Press and hold the Play/Pause button while powering on your player.

3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.

Depending on the model you can also use following procedure:
1. Remove the battery.

2. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Vision. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears.

Creative Zen won't charge or be regonized by my computer.

I have a Zen Vision: M and often have the same problem if it is completely discharged and not used for a couple of weeks.
When I plug it into my laptop I get a message saying 'This USB device has malfunctioned and is not recognized" (or something like that) and the unit will not power on. However, if I leave it attached for about an hour it eventually comes to life.

Do you have a wall charger, or do you only charge bu USB from your PC?

My advice would be:
- Attach it via USB to your PC
- Leave is for 1-2 hours and (hopefully) is should come back to life.

If not, try a different USB cable - I used to use the standard USB cable that came with my Zen Vision: M to charge (and sync) with my PC, but recently my PC does not recognize the device when using this, so I switched to a different USB cable (the one that came with my Sony Ericsson phone) and now it works first time, every time.

It is possible a virus has infected your device. If there is no virus in it, then it require re-programming. Visit http://www.s1mp3.org and find the appropriate firmware and tool. Try to reprogram it.

Try resetting the device and charging it again. You may have to charge it for a few hours though.

I have the same problem .. But i found a trick ...When you have a blank screen.
1 you must listen music else press play until you listen it
2. flip the switch on the side to lock position
3. press on buttom the next tune 1-2 seconds
4. you will have a black screen ( you listen the music again)
5. flip the switch on the side to normal position.
6 the screen appear ok now..

7. else repeat ( most time once is ok but sometimes 2 or 3 times)

New RCA mp3 8GB not working

My only thought is to format it. There may be a song or some file you placed on it that is causing a glitch.
