Check Emitter resistors and transistors in protect circuit, freeze spray can sure help isolate on the run - as the thermal characteristics change so does resistor values (to a degree) and transistors - leaky ones can trigger this too... however do not discount you may have been had by a dry joint.....

Yes it can, it sounds like its over heating, make sure that your product is able to get fresh circulated / cooler air
if it already is, then it probably is a faulty product.

I have a Technics ammplfier SU-V4X after playing for about 5 mins it cuts out , it gets over heated . what can I do to stop this.does it have a fuse I can remove

you will have to cleac dust or debris from fan exhaust and filter, can cause it to go into shutdown. Amps will do this to protect them from damage. Regards, meder's tv service

I have a technics SU-v500m2 amplifier connected via the aux input to my pc, i wish to link another amp to the same input, is this possible, and if so how?

Let's establish which is the IN and which is the OUT here. The PC is a Line Level source so its OUTPUT would feed one of the amp's Line Level INPUTs.

What's the second amp going to do in your scenario? Something other than the normal stereo channels; something multichannel (if your PC supports it); or just more speakers supported for the PC to feed?

An RCA Y-connector pair would share the stereo output of the PC with multiple Line Level destinations.

If a second amp with its own volume control is intended to share the same two channels with the SU-V500 it could also be slaved off the back of the SU-V500 wih an RCA patch pair exiting the Tape 1 or 2 REC(OUT) jacks. The second amp would receive full-volume audio from whatever source the SU-V500 is playing. Just don't activate the selected Tape monitor on the SU-V500 or you will cut off the source to both amps.

Denon AVR-1508 Receiver problems - cuts off and goes into protect mode

Usually when the unit runs for a while before shutting down there are two possibilities:

1) There is a small amount of DC current present that effectively heats up the speaker coils enough to cause a temporary short circuit that kicks in the protect circuit.
2) The output transistors or bias transistors are sensitive to heat and breaking down again causing the protect circuit to kick in.

A few experiments to try:

1) Does the time to shutdown change depending upon the volume level?
2) Is there any background noise coming from the speakers? Listen to a blank tape for example. Is there a hum or any other noise that you would not normally expect?
3) If you have a DC voltmeter, check for any voltage between the speaker lines.

Update this and we'll try to narrow this down.
