If the Web cam was Generic, or even Brand name, and it came with a Drivers disc (this would mean that it is not plug and play), try completely uninstalling the Driver software for the web cam. After the uninstall has finished, reinstall the drivers, taking extra care to follow ALL on screen instructions to the T. If at some point there were other web cams, and the drivers that belonged to those cams installed on the computer, be sure to fully uninstall all of them. Only use the cam and the drivers that you are attempting to install. After all of that, the cam should work just fine.

If for some reason the cam does not work after reinstalling the drivers, try a different brand of web cam. The computer that the drivers are attempting to operate on may not be adequate to support those drivers. If that's the case, try a generic, cheaper web cam as I said.

Also: While powering up the cam, don't run anything unnecessary.

Hope this helps.

Try reinstalling the WEBcam driver.
You can download the WEBcam and device drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model motherboard/computer/laptop, and make sure you select drivers that matches your Windows operating system. Please click on this link to their WEB support site : - http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Web cam on my vista presario CQ70 has stopped working and cannot find drivers installed for it to operate, keeps saying it is working properly but will not come up, used to but not any more

Please download the driver software from the web. As you have not mentioned your Webcam make and Operating System you are using, I am unable to give you the direct download link. However you can download the same by visiting the website of the company that manufactured the PC.

Even here you need to be careful to download the correct software for your PC. You need to be exact with the Webcam Model number and the OS that you are using.
After you have downloaded the driver, to install just plug in the webcam on to your PC and then Double click on the driver setup.exe file and go on clicking 'Next' until you get the 'Finish' option and restart the PC.

Would like the webcam drivers for advent celeron c900 can you suggest the correct link please thank you

Hi

You don't say which Operating System you are using or what the actual reason is for you needing to install the Webcam Driver. Have you upgraded your Operating System? Or did the Webcam just stop working and you want fix it with Driver re-installation within the same Operating System?

Although, on the surface, drivers seem to mainly be about hardware, they are actually mainly about software. The Driver does not physically control the Webcam. The Operating System does. What the driver does is (just like a human interpreter for a guest who speaks a different language from his host), introduce the Webcam to the Operating System and help them to communicate with one another, with Driver taking instructions from both and passing it back and forth between them.

So when one mentions Drivers, one must also mention the Operating System it will be talking to. In order for that to be possible, the 2 must share a common language. If they do not, then the role of 'interpreter' is impossible, because, then neither the Driver nor the Webcam will be able to understand what the Operating System is saying.

There is no such thing as a Webcam Driver. There can only be an XP Webcam Driver, a Vista Webcam Driver or a Windows 7 Webcam Driver.

Unfortunately Advent is a bad choice of computer brand for you, because it is an Own Brand of the Dixons Stores Group (owner of PC World & Curry's Digital) and because, they want all Advent computers repairs to be done, at a price, by PC World's Tech Guys, they offer NO Driver Support at all on their the Advent Website. If you type either "download" or "driver" into the Search Box on the Advent site -"0 Items Found". See here:

http://www.adventcomputers.co.uk/product-comparison

All the website offers is hardware - Laptops, Desktops and Printers for Sale. No online support at all.

So you are stuck, I'm afraid. Either go to PC World or go back to your previous Operating System or use System Restore to put your computer back to when the Webcam was working (only possible, if you have not changed Operating Systems).

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore My Computer to an earlier time > select a HIGHLIGHTED date in the calendar and an event in the schedule that preceded the Webcam fault (When the webcam was working) > Restore > Restart computer? Test Webcam

There are unofficial websites that claim to have Webcam Drivers for your computer, but you would have to gamble and take your luck between these sites, because DSG tightly control all Advent Drivers and officially release them to no 3rd Party Company, so I have my doubts if anyone else has them - but it is possible. See here, for example:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/advent+c900+camera+drivers/

I hope this helps.

Acer aspire 5515 webcam stopped working

http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=1010
in most cases the webcam will stop working cause the driver is corrupted...Just get to this location ...select the operation system you have in use..and download the driver again for your cam ...there are 3 camera's models equipped on aspire ..and if you do not know what type you have ..download them all for your model ..and only the right one will install correctly ..If during the process of running the installation the it will prompt you saying it didn't passed the windows verification ..choose install anyway ..and go for it ..restart at the end..and look in my computer and see if the camera works ..if it does keep the driver if not ..remove it and go for the next one ..untill will work ..
Good luck !

First i had window 7 operating system when my touch pad had stopped working. now i have installed window xp but it is still not working.. during the installation process of window xp it was working but...

Given that it was working during winxp installation, the operating system might be giving it a wrong driver thus failing it to work. Ensure that it is well enable in the BIOS your laptop. Secondly, install the required drivers for it. It should be in the drivers directory of your laptop installation cd.

My HP Pavilion Entertainment webcam issues

First uninstall the drivers and then download the latest bios update for your notebook from hp.com and then restart the computer.... then install the latest updated drivers for webcam from hp.com and check this will surely work.
If not then check for quickplay driver update too.
Another thing open task manager and then go to processes and check wethere you can find the webcam running or not if yes then right click and end the task , also check for the programs that might use webcam like if you have installed yahoo or skype messenger end the program task too.

Laptop hangs during video-call

Go to Dell support website and check for latest video, & audio drivers and BIOS.
https://support.dell.com/support/supportrequests/create.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
Check back quarterly as Dell is quite good about rolling out updates on a regular basis.
