Need drivers for serial port for dell optiplex 745c

Installed 7/Vista and XP Pro on several Optiplex 745c pc's. None installed the serial port drivers. Dell website has no listing for 745c just 745. and those drivers work for serial port. chipset drivers don't install it either.

Thanks for your response Chris. Unfortunately Dell has seemed to disown these unit. We have purchased 20 of them. All of them have service tags clearly readable on them. All service tags on these units take us to a page which shows a dell box ..... Not the driver page. We attempted to let Dell Find the service tag manually. It doesn't. We have manually gone in search of Drivers for a 745c. Site doesn't show a 745c. Just a 745 which has different drivers. Here is a couple of Service tags for someone to try. We have never typed in service tags at dell and not been able to secure drivers. Or for that matter even see the unit. 4Q594D1 service tag...
    9FGD0F1 service tag JN63GD1.

Try downloading the drivers using the service tag.
DellYou can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

SOURCE: Dell Optiplex GX270 Driver Questions

On the Audio driver question: the answer is yes the Audio driver is what allows you to have sound.

On the DVD software, I did not see any software on Dell link. Download Windows Media, newest version is ver.11
It will allow you to watch DVDs

Problem on Dell OptiPlex 780 Desktop

You are going to need to start your computer in safe mode and find the XP drivers that will work for your motherboard manually from the web (Assuming that there are any created for XP for that board)..

That blue screen you keep getting is because you don't have the correct driver loaded for something on the motherboard that it needs to boot correctly and your XP install couldn't find it on the web to install automatically.

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking".

Now start looking for your drivers here:

Sir how two install a audio driver for dell optiplex gx 520?

If you go to this site, you can get all of the drivers for the Optiplex GX 520. Please make sure you select the correct version of Windows that you are running (Windows XP, Vista, or 7). Then, select "Audio" from the drop-down list, and download the driver for ADI 198x Integrated Audio.

If you're running Windows XP, you can just click here to go directly to the driver download.

Once you download the driver, just double-click the file to start the installer.

I can't change my screen resolution, or change to 32bit colour since i installed Vista onto my dell optiplex gx60

This is because  you haven't installed the drivers. Unfortunately for you your chipset is an antiquity that wasn't supported even on Vista. Your only hope is to install its XP drivers, they will give you basic functionality and nothing more.

Lost resolution windows vista upgrade on GX260

Hi all,

I tried numerous solutions for this issue and none of them worked except this one. I tested it with Vista Ultimate and don’t know if other Vista versions have the same drivers but here’s what worked for me:

1. Right click ‘Computer’ then left click ‘Properties’ to open up System window.
2. Click ‘Device Manager’
3. Click ‘+’ on ‘Display Adapters’ and you should see the drivers for your video. Right click and select ‘Update Driver Software...’
4. Select ‘Browse my computer for driver software’ and click ‘next’.
5. Click ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’
6. Untick ‘Show compatible hardware’
7. Select ‘Intel Corporation’ then select ‘Intel 82865G’. Click next.

This will install the drivers. No they are not the same drivers for the hardware but they work a treat!
